I used my hydra monofin as a template for creating my own monofin. it measures 19 inches at its thinnest point and 21 inches at its widest. in regards to actual monofins, most are too large for me, they just don't look right as i am skinny. so my current fin is proportioned to the size of my body.

Can someone please get me back to the ocean before I suffocate... I need the water......

My current fluke from SyrenStudios is massive. I don't have the measurements on hand. I will post again once I have them.
It is built around a FINIS competitor monofin, and is longer and wider than the monofin.
The fluke would not work with a smaller or softer fin. I love my giant fluke! It has a great "flop" to it, and flexes in such a way that it disguises the monofin.

It can be too big for some events though. I am currently trying to design a bag to hold it. The weight is also a tough thing. It's great in the water, but is very heavy to carry from point a to point b. I think it's about 35lbs

TOP TAIL: Mertailor full silicone tail with the pirate fluke. Custom monofin.
BOTTOM TAIL: SyrenStudios full silicone tail. Competitor monofin

Oh my goodness, Katey mermaid, your tail is so pretty! I'vs always been a sucker for big flukes, so once I make my own fabric tail (I have a 2tails right now), or get/make a silcone tail in the far future, it'll most definitely have a larger fluke.

ok, I've had a few questions about how big my fluke actually is

At the widest point (about midway down the fluke) is is 41" across
from the foot pockets of the monofin to the tip of the fluke is it 43"
fluke tip to fluke tip is about 43"

hope that helps! the tail is much bigger than the competitor monofin inside of it

My tail that has the Lunocet fin has a span of 31 inches and is 10 inches wide at the root, tapering to a point at the tip, with an average width of 7 inches. The front, or leading edge, of the fin is about 8 inches behind my toes.

(beside my own 173cm/5ft8 height and my "widest part" 114cm/ I feel these are important to the whole proportions beside the swimmibility(?) )
    my current fluke:
80 cm / 31.4" from heel to middle
113 cm / 44.4" from heel to tips,
    123 cm / 48.4" widest
AND I concluded its too big or wide (specially that I put a too hard monofin in it covered with too soft silicone so it doesnt flow just breaks when swimming faster)
    new fluke will be:
    63 cm / 24.8"
    107 cm / 42.1"
    106 cm / 41.7"
