    Gardening Underwater in Italy

I had never thought about underwater greenhouses, but it seems some people in Italy are having great success with them.

Combined with underwater habitats maybe you could grow your own food and reduce your need for supplies from the surface.

I like the concept. Who wants to pay $200 for a head of lettuce?? But I would love it even more if they grew sea grasses, seaweeds and coral. Then sea life won't die off due to pollution, oil spills and climate change.

One issue I can think of is pollination. Sure you don't have slugs, aphids, and other garden pests, but you also don't have butterflies, moths, bees, and other helpful creatures that help pollinate plants. I guess the people have to manually do that for the plants.

    Very interesting though!
