Need some help with monofin

So I bought my specialfins monofin quite some time ago. I've swam in it a few times, and every time it kills my feet. I get cramps almost immediately. My rapid doesn't do this to me at all. I think it may be because the straps on the rapid are adjustable and the ones on my specialfins are not. The specialfins footpockets are solid rubber including the straps. So here's my question. Has anyone cut off their straps on a monofin like this? (Specialfin/competitor/etc.) If you have cut off the straps, have you added new straps that can be adjusted? Has this worked for anyone? I've tried the monofin with the little booties, but it makes them a bit too tight. I've trimmed the top part that goes over the arch of my foot a little bit, thinking that may have been the problem, but nothing's helped so far.

I've considered cutting the straps off and trying to attach a replacement strap from finis.

Have you tried wearing neoprene booties with it? Or the cramps may just be your feet telling you that they need to get used to the monofin

I havent done anything yet. Ive been putting it off lol. I have tried the booties. Its possible its just a stiffer monofin so i may start wearing it in the house and flapping it to strengthen my feet before cutting the straps

So I finally went ahead and cut the straps. I cut it straight down the middle of the strap on each foot and rounded the edges. I'm going to punch a hole in both sides so that I can add something like a ribbon or something to keep it on. Since I cut the straps, my feet feel so much better. I haven't gone swimming yet though. I'm hoping to take it in the next week or two. I'm working on my newest tail so I'm hoping that what I'm doing with this monofin is going to work. I'll take a picture of what I've done so far and post it up tomorrow.
