Just wanted to get the word out! I've developed a hybrid mertail that I'm trying to get funded on Kickstarter. Please check it out and spread the word if you like the idea! I'm really excited about this project. I hope you like it!

That is an amazing idea! If I get some extra money soon, I'll definitely try to help

I'll share it on social media wherever I can! <3

I like your concept. What would the price range be?

Thank you! Right now a full tail would be $450. The fluke alone, if you wanted to sew your own tail sheath would be $350. If I get funding, those prices will vary if you add ventral or dorsal fins. Some of the fluke prices will fluctuate depending on what monofins I end up working with. I'll be doing my best to keep prices moderate, but if there's a difference in price on the monofins (for instance, a $50 Suntail vs. a $90 Finis Rapid) I'll have to add it into the end cost.

But the customized color aspect for both pieces is already part of the base cost.

I've known Stumerchick (Rae) for decades and seen her talents grow year by year. I can fully vouch for her skills and ability to make beautiful custom tails. I was there when she was test-driving the prototypes and developing the custom measurement form and it really works for all shapes and sizes of people. And if your size happens to change because you have so much fun swimming in your custom tail, you can order a new sheath! What a concept!

Things are still chugging along. Many thanks to the people who have shared the page and/or donated to the project. I've added a rewards tier for a child's size tail. This would be fully customizable in terms of colors and patterns, just like the adult tail package. Please visit and check out the project if you have a moment. You can also follow along on my Facebook page for behind the scenes tidbits and some history on this project.

Hi Everyone. I'm in the process of doing an update for the Kickstarter page, but it's refusing to load the video, so instead I've placed it on YouTube. A few people had questions about what I meant by customizable, so I'm hoping the video will clarify a bit. You can also link to the Kickstarter from there.

    Hi Everyone!

I've added a new update to the Kickstarter page: a quick overview of the flukes and how they're made. 9 more days to go!

Love the idea. I found the Sun Tails monofin to be very buoyant. Do you have plans to cover the whole thing with silicone and have a different type of foot pocket?

I may be redoing the foot pockets on the Suntail because I've redone the strapping arrangement and that requires cutting new holes in the pockets to accommodate. But otherwise, I'm limited to this basic shape on the Suntails. However, mine certainly is NOT buoyant with the silicone on it. It's actually very effective in the water. I'm working on a clay design on a Finis Rapid fin now, and I have plans to ask my backers what kinds of monofins they would like me to work on for future fluke styles.

Some footage of the Fusions in the water, so you can see how they move. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/1829273

i like these, they look almost reptilian, very scaley, the fluke almost prehistoric looking! (probably the only one with that opinion ??) the fluke has the right amount of movement, i really like how the side fins on the fluke flop with the movements.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting the next design done. It's on a larger monfin, so it should also have some really nice movement.
