Thread: Model Mayhem?

  1. #41
Here's the nice thing about MM they approve you no matter your body image...everyone needs models. Most photographers actually want and are leaning towards curvy, full figured woman to raise awareness that ALL bodies are beautiful. that's great that you got an offer to be photographed. I am mostly a model more than a mermaid model now. so if you have any questions or concerns you can message me. Talk to the photographer and if you feel creeped out ask if you can bring a "buddy" if they say no right away be wary. If they ask why say that you always bring someone in case you need something. They should be ok with it as it is for your safety. I mention this as I have heard/seen/delt with a lot of creepers and it would have been easier to weed them out by asking that simple question...can i bring a buddy for my safety and mertending?

I got my first underwater shoot coming up this weekend from a photographer I met through MM! The one after it is PAID! Many praises to this site!

So, I joined about a month ago! I'e had a few messages, but a hard time finding times/locations (in the cause of an underwater shoot... no pools that seem willing :/ )

Do any of you post availabilities, or just contact photographers directly? Trying to figure out the best approach for this sort of thing.

Feel free to add me if you like http://www.modelmayhem.com/3496448

Good for you starting up an account. I've been on there for a year now myself.
I always put up a casting call and describe what I am after as far as date, time and location. Sometimes I get photographers respond, but I will always send out individual inquiry too. Photographers have always been super friendly and excited about it. I've learned not everyone looks at the casting calls on a regular basis. If you have any more questions, though I am not an expert myself, I would be happy to help.

    Best of luck.

I made one a couple months ago but I didn't realize I had to approve
my profile and it seems minutes after it was approved I was being bombarded
with emails and questions regarding shoots, most of them for "nudes and erotics"
Now I'm a bit overwhelmed with all this. I dunno if half these people are legit or
    not.

Does this happen often? Is it just a "first join" type of thing or will I continuously
get a spout of emails like this? It's a bit crazy o_o
I just got a MM account (http://www.modelmayhem.com/3563319) and as soon as it was approved I had 12 guys asking to be friends and stuff, and its like what? I don't know you people what the heck. I did a search here for Model Mayhem to ask your exact question. One of the first emails I got was "do you have tats, six pack, do nudes" with less grammar.

I don't think you look even slightly overweight.

I sort of wanted to do "erotica" in the sense of maybe having a whip, using liquid latex, wearing very
tall shoes, etc. I suppose like those photos you posted. I didn't want anything to do with appearing to
touch myself o_o that seems very inappropriate. I mean, not that I don't disapprove of it, I just don't
want photos of me like that circulating around.
I joined modelmayhem to expose my art mainly and to get my prosthetics and costumes some artistic
use. I'd think that'd be a fun photo shoot rather than a "OK wear this swimsuit.. Ok now take the top
off and put your hands over your nipples.. Don't worry nothing will show... Ok now just let us shoot
    your titties"

I'd do nude if the fact that me being nude wasn't the entire focus. I don't want to be one of those girls
in the sports illustrated magazine xD but if I did do a shoot with a mermaid tail I'd have no problem
with having my top off. I guess if that makes any sense.
Kanti I was wondering the same thing when deciding my settings. I don't mind erotica like liquid/regular latex, bondage, whatever, and I am ok nude, but I don't want to become a porn shoot. What you want of doing a mermaid shoot but don't care if you have a top or not makes perfect sense. You want to be a natural mermaid, not so much vagina mermaid from another thread.

I know as a guy this is much less likely to happen but if someone said to me
Ok now just let us shoot your titties" I would ask for the memory card and just leave.

Hmm....could you do that, bring your own memory card and at the end say "ok you know what this made me uncomfortable, I'm not letting you keep these"?

And me saying that is bad. I spent all of elementary, middle, and high school in special education for my writing and grammar.

The key with MM is to make yourself standout, and to be short/sweet/to the point with your profile. Make sure your stats are correct. If you tick off "nude" or "partial nude" (or pinups or lingerei) be prepared to have to force yourself to filter through the creeps and pervs. Whenever I initially made my account, I was a minor and I had SO many photographers ask me for "pics of just me in my underwear" dude, WTF :l

As for now? It's great to network and get critique on your photos, but take caution with the forum feature. There's a lot of egotistical maniacs on there and others are just plain rude to newbies to the photo/modeling world.

Don't worry about your height/weight/whatever. There's a photographer for EVERY body type.
