How do Make one mould for scales?

Hello, I found nothing directly about it. So I decided to question .. How to make a mould for the scales ? I saw some videos . But I not understand who materials use .Can anyone explain me ? is for one latex tail. Thanks :)

Pretty much every thread in the tail-making subforum will give you the answers.

Most people use clay or foam circles to make the sculpt, then add a sealer and pour resin (or plaster of paris if you're thrifty) over that to make the mould. Then you pour your latex into the mould.

Though, there are many ways to do it and experimenting is encouraged. Do it your way!

What would this sealer ? I saw many people doing the circles of paper and throwing something over them , then placing fiber glass or gypsum ... What do they play ? clay ?

I think some people use vaseline? Just something to keep the resin from sticking to the scale sheet. Fiberglass is used to strengthen the mould - I'm not sure what you mean by gypsum, though. I hope you don't mind my asking, is English your first language? We do have many international mers here who might be able to translate for you. I'm just not catching 100% of what you're saying,

Gypsum is plaster.

Note: If you are making a latex tail, do not use vaseline. Vaseline eats rubber, and can make the latex not cure correctly.

If you make scales from clay, use a clay that does not dry or harden. That makes it easy to peel them from the mold.

If you make scales from foamie, they can melt into a mold. I put Shellac on mine to seal them, others use a mold release. (but not vaseline)
