hey!

I am currently half way through a project to make my own silicone tail! Iv'e got as far as making the mould for my fluke and I have the scale sheets all done. but I ran into money trouble so The project came to a standstill :( I have tried to raise money here: http://www.gofundme.com/jw8jb0 I managed to raise £30..

buuut....

I don't think I'm going to be able to raise enough for Dragonskin. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any cheaper alternatives that would still work and last.

Then I ran into more trouble! :( My shellshock mould has cracked in a few places. Hopefully i can fix it up with some of the clay. But realisticly I need to find a way to raise more money or I might have to call it a day.

Any advice would be amazing! Thank you xox Kernow Mermaid.

Sorry you're running into trouble, but your mould should still be salvageable! You can try reinforcing the back of your mould with fiberglass fabric (not the loose fibery stuff) which you can get at places like Lowes and Home Depot for about 7 bucks. It's 4ft x 2ft so it should be big enough for your mould. Just brush on a layer of shell shock, press the cloth into while it's still tacky, and then brush a second layer on top after the first is set (30 minuntes ish). Don't try repairing the cracks with clay as it will just break again at the same point. Instead, using a tiny paint brush to fill it in with more Shell Shock. Your mould should also be about 1" thick above the thickest part of your sculpt, and have at least 1" of excess around the edges of the sculpt.
