One ring is for a customer who dives and wants sea critters that she sees on her dives. the other is a mermaid ring i'm making for sale.
They're in wax right now but will be cast in shibuichi with uranium or vaseline glass that glows under UV light.

yup uranium..It's old glass from the 1920's , it has a small amount of uranium in it.. Don't worry, it has less radiation in it than a glass of milk... yes some foods have natural radiation.. fun stuff...

There are people who collects absinthe memorabilia and they love uranium glasses and carafes. They are VERY expensive and difficult to find in good conditions.
Your rings are beautiful!

I have a picturetrail site instead of a website. It has 5 jewellery albums. Picturetrail is easier for me, the non computer person to update, as I usually am working until 3 am on pieces..
Most of my mermaid jewellery is in albums 4 and 5 but I have little bits of mermaid goodies in the other albums.

Uranium glass is so hard to find in these faceted stones. You can find dinnerware and beads but these are tough to find.I scour estate sales all the time plus I pay for auction house notice subscriptions. I usually can find a few of these loose stones, maybe 3 in one lot and up to 10 or so in another,I hope to hit the mother load of uranium glass someday! I do have a uranium glass canning jar my grandmother had..

Can they be done with normal glass/non precious stones gems?

Sure I do all types of glass crystal and gems and even diamonds, and all metals.I just like the uranium glass for a few designs. I also recycle customer's jewellery into something new. I can also use your gems.

I do all the work myself , helps keep costs down plus I allow my own metals so I know what temps to cast them.. Plus if it goes wrong,I can't really get mad at anyone.Lol

What would your prices be (approximately of course) for a ring or pendant if I supplied my own stone/s? And do you do pieces with multiple settings?

Michelle - I've been a fan of your work since meeting you in Florida! Some day I'll save up enough to get a ring from you :D :D :D

That's awesome! I took a few years of metal arts in community college but was always way too terrified of the centrifugal casting machine to do it myself. I just bribed more experienced students with baked goods :)
Now I'm realizing that I still have almost a full ounce of sterling silver shot and a few chalcedony cabs somewhere with my art supplies... might have to commission something!
