Hey all,
So I just realized thanks to others on here I may not be able to have a silicone tail cause of my 9 year ankle injury and I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what materials I will need and how to do it here please?? Plan on doing fins etc as well to make my dream tail complete and add on fringing to make it extra beautiful with the fins and fluke.
Question though how many sequins would you need??
How would you do the pattern??
How would you fit the mono fin in it?? and how would you make it so that it would be totally this fluke shape??
Would you have to buy neoprene for the material and how much would you need??
Can you handsew the neoprene since I doubt my machine would work for it??
Not sure what else I need to know but I plan on making my dream tail pics below using sequins now and frills etc since silicone may be out of the question and then I still hope to get some silicone tops to work with it :)
Can anyone please help me out here as to what types of sequins etc and I will include a pic of my dream tail below so you can all recommend the materials I get for it :) Thanks a ton!

Many questions are already covered in this topic here: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?2633-☆⚠TAILMAKING-REFERENCE-INDEX⚠☆-Look-here-BEFORE-you-post-any-questions! Just scroll down to the Sequin Tails section that has several links that should be very helpful.
Sequin amount from what I have read will vary from person to person. I think in one of those topics under the Sequin Tail links it mentions how to calculate the amount of sequins you need. Also, there are large sequins and then there are smaller sequins like what Hannah Frasser uses.
Most people seem to hide a zipper at the bottom of the tail or use Velcro at the bottom so that they can easily put the monofin in and take it out. You can hide the zipper by using cut vinyl floor matting or something. You might be able to get large sequins to overhang to hide the zipper I am not sure.
You can hand sew the neoprene one topic on that link I listed shows an image of how to sew the sequins. You come from the other side and up through the hole in the sequin, etc. Sequin links are in the linked topic as well. Basically, that reference topic is the holy tail grail for making tails.
That is just what I have learned from reading. You should be able to find answers to your questions using the search bar and the link I gave.
That tail design is SOOOOO amazing by the way! I hope you can make it just the way you have dreamed it to look like. I am not sure how you would go about making that design with neoprene and sequins, but I am sure you can figure something out.

Thanks all have found the sequins I am interested in just can't get them right now lol :P Money sigh! And I hope I can reproduce it so nervous as I haven't done this before and so want to do it right including sequined fins so I won't be using the vinyl floor stuff at all have to work that out with time.
Thanks for the links will check them out but have to pay something off first then look at actually getting the materials for this as am hoping to make it for MerQuest Australia next year

Don't use 12mm sequins... it'll take forever. I'm 6,000 probably like 85 hours of sewing and I've done a third of my tail, I'd use the 14mm sequins, they cover waaay better and don't have a visible hole in them when you overlap
