I wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this. If not, please move to wherever it's best.

I wanted to share a very easy way to do a pirate/mermaid treasure chest for birthday parties (or any kind of party, really!). I found it on Etsy's blog (https://blog.etsy.com/en/2013/make-candy-treasure-box/?ref=fp_blog_image) and I thought it was really cool:

Here is the link to my blog (http://kaleidoskopicromance.blogspot.com.es/2013/06/crafting-edible-treasure-chest.html), where there are more pics and some tips on how to make it. The recipient was my aunt in her birthday, who was turning 63, and she loved it.

I know we all love those beautiful specialty cakes, but since many wallets cannot afford them, I thought we could make a thread for cheap and easy ideas to decorate on a special occasion.

Here are some pics I found on Facebook of sea-related food that can be made at home:

Fenicia, you made me soak my keyboard in drool! Belgian chocolate is, IMO, the world's finest!

I haven't made these yet, but I do plan to sometime - little pearl/oyster cookies! They could even be a centerpiece if displayed on a pretty stacking tray or something.

(Pulled from here (http://blog.hwtm.com/2013/06/under-the-sea-mermaid-birthday-party/))

And I even found a tutorial on it here (http://www.livingwellspendingless.com/2013/06/19/oyster-pearl-cookies/).

These are all so precious!! Also those Belgian chocolates look really familiar-- I think I've been gifted that exact box before. (And they were delicious, in case you didn't already know. :P)
