Screen printing Neoprene?

So I've been doing a bit more research on making neoprene tails and by research i mean typing neoprene tail into Google and tumblr and looking at pictures lol
but a while ago i came across something on Hannah Fraser's mermaid site
she says she used screen printing heat set pain for her tails and I was like "oh wow that's really interesting.... what the flying fish is screen printing and can I do it to neoprene?"
so i did a little more research and by research I mean I typed into Google images and looked at some of the pictures and was like "nope that looks complicated as hell and i'm tooo lazy for this right now"
anyway i was wondering does anyone know any thing about screen printing, and heat set pain
will it work on neoprene?
where do i get the supplies to do it all?
how much is it gonna cost me in the long run?

any info and help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

I don't know about screen printing, but I used heat set (jacquard) paints for my first tail. They are pretty good! not the cheapest paint, doesn't stretch as much and can crack and flake within a year or so, but they have very beautiful colors.

Screen printing is when you use a template to put on layers of paints to create the image. Its kinda like a fancy way of stencilling. But with screen printing, you can use photos to create an image instead of the paper or plastic cutouts like stencilling. Screen printing ink can be heat set with a warm iron.

There are kits available too. So that might be one way to go, if you just want to try it out.

Nyx, your tail is gorgeous! Which Jacquard product did you use? Was it Lumiere? I know that people have used that for their tails before. I know Jacquard also sells screen printing inks, so maybe the ink wouldn't start cracking whereas the paint would.

Ive looked up how to screen print and it doesn't look that hard... doing on about 4 and a half yards of Neoprene might be a bit difficult though. so if Hannah uses the same process to decal her tails i think i could do it
