So, my lovely peacock tail was pretty much beat to heck over six weeks at the Oregon Renaissance Festival.

The fabric got super thin, the lumiere paint started to come off, since I did not have time to properly heat set it and it was rubbed in that particular place a lot (see the knee in the picture above) as well as on the backside of the tail. When in the water, it still looks nice and flowy and I don't think that visitors will see that it's thin, but I can see it... I can see my swimsuit bottoms through the tail when wet, my legs are easier to see, and yadda... which I figure I can solve partially with flesh-tone leggings to cover it, but I digress....
What I need help with is someone stopping me from making a neoprene tail (or someone to say "shut up and do it!") I've thought about making one for a long time now, and I have even thought about doing sequins, but I think at this point it's best to do a neoprene tail with just paint for the start... The thing is... Do I -need- another tail?
I am finally getting my silicone wedding tail from Merbella, and I still have the spotted tail and lantern tail that still work (though need some touch ups), and the peacock one is surviving, but... I kind of want to make another one in something new. I don't have the time or space to try silicone on my own, but I think perhaps the Neoprene. (Once I get this other tail I am working on done... but that is another story and another post.)
Thing is, I volunteer with a traveling mermaid cove, which is cloth tails only (to keep things fair between mermaids who can and cannot afford silicone ones), and I do need to maintain my cloth tails (though my lantern tail's fluke is too large to keep in the lagoon respectfully and not hit people so I tend not to use it anymore in there; hence the creation of the peacock tail.)
Ug, should I? Is it worth it, really? I'd have to start from phase one (designing) and I may lose interest in that, so I might as well do if I guess and see where that takes me... I guess I am just seeking input from others.
