Accessories for the water

Are there any accessories that can be worn in the water without falling off or rotting, etc.??

Shells in general do not rot away. Basic rule of thumb is that if it was a living animal, and is now dried out (sand dollars, starfish, seahorses) you should not put them in the water. Shells are OK because the animal itself is no longer in it.

I am in the process right now of creating a "crown" hair band piece that will be water safe.

Also don't use sand dollars, even for dry things (though we've gotten sand dollars wet before and they're fine. The ones I've gathered from beaches though). They shatter really easily.

I am going to be starting to make resin sand dollars, starfish, and shells. They are one alternative to the real thing and work much better in water.

I have a teeny seahorse I plan on encaing in resin... either in a mold or just multiple-dipping on its own.

you can wear once living things if you varnish them with water-specific varnish. That's what we do with all ours, you can even buy spray can versions instead of paint kind, but I find the paint kind reinforces them.
