Hello everyone! I'm Merman Rozelle from Indonesia - South East Asia (SEA). I think I'm the only one in my country :/ I've been introduced to the topic of mermaiding a year or two years ago but never really have the guts to join the forum. I'm jealous of people in the U.S. who have events like mercon where they can meet like minded people. although the beaches in Indonesia are out of this world, but the people are rather "traditional/conservative" (I hope I used the word correctly) when it comes to the idea of mermaiding especially when it's a man.
I don't know what else I should write here, should I put my photo or what? maybe something will come along and I'll edit it. Hope you guys welcome me!

Welcome to the network, Rozelle. There's actually a few mermaids in S.E.A. In fact, depending on where you are in Indonesia, just across the straight, there's a couple of mermaids in Singapore. I know that's a whole country away, but it's a starting point.
As for what to put, usually a little avatar and profile pic is a good place to start if your comfortable. If you've made a tail before, you can share it in the Show Us Your Tails (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1389-SHoW-Us-YoUR-TaiLS-THReAd!!!) thread. You can also edit your signature so that it's like mine (mine has links to my other mermaid things) or so that it has a favorite quote or .gif that's mermaid/ocean related.
The search function will also be your friend on this site, especially if you start a tail making project and have questions.

Hey Anahita! Yes I noticed there are a few mermaids there. At least I know I'm not all alone in Asia.
And I am planning to buy a monofin first to see how it actually feels like swimming with a fin before I make or purchase any tail as making a tail is kind of a commitment and I have commitment issues. But thanks for the idea! Will look at the how to guide posted on this site.

Welcome!
You are in the perfect spot for swimming and diving.
I know that would mean more to me than a con once a year or so ;)
There are no cons in Europe either, but swimming here (at least more in the North) always means "deadly cold all around, wear divesuit or perish".

Thanks echidna! I know it's beautiful here but having no one to share that with is a waste. But I wouldn't argue if we go to Lombok and have a swim there we might actually feel like a true complete real life mermaids/mermen.
Of dead God yes, I have stayed in Europe and I can confirm that there is no way we can swim there especially the northern part but I guess if we go to Greece we can have a good swim.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find someone near you to swim with :) I've been to Bali three times, and although there's a bit of litter etc, It's really a beautiful place :) If we ever go over again, we should catch up and freak out tourists by wearing tails on the beach :D

Thanks Oceanwhisper! ah yes it's easy to find someone to swim with but I don't think it's as easy to find someone to swim in tails with. But the scenery matches the tails and the whole mermaid thing.
And you've been to Bali three times? Wow... You like it so much that you visit as many as three times or someone forces you? [emoji12]

Hi welcome! Nice to see another Oceanic merman! I'm originally from Singapore too, now live in Australia.
Oh and we're having our first ever Aussie MerQuest in 2016, so plenty of time to save up and come for a swim and meet the rest of us.:D

@OceanWhisper oh you go there with your family? Nice. Did you see the wild dolphins too while in Bali?
@Mermaid Jaffa hey thanks! Wow first ever MerQuest that sounds awesome! Are there merman too in Aussie? I was thinking of making a thread for SEA pod but was a little discouraged by how small numbered we are [emoji53]

You must have an awesome crib. Owning a house/apartment next to the beach/ocean has always been a dream of mine. Did you visit komodo island?
