I was wondering- is there any sort of online fairy community?

I am so glad I decided to become a part of the mermaid community. I've found it to be informative and I love being around people with similar interests. I hope there's a similar community out there for fairies though.

The only thing I've really been able to find is the fairy society. Their site isn't nearly as easy to read or helpful and it seems like their forum is clogged with bots...

There's gotta be something out there.

I'm not sure... there are Faerie specific conventions, like Faeriecon. And there were certainly the otherkin, though I'm not sure how much of an active thing otherkin are anymore. There are certainly lots of fairy gamers, especially players of Changeling: the Lost and Changeling: the Dreaming. I understand that at one time, there was a subculture referred to as "Tinks" (for girls) and "Pans" for boys who favored wearing wings and dressing in fairy styles, but they're incredibly hard to find information on. The Radical Faeries are more about redefining lgbt identity than any actual fairy enthusiasm.

Not sure about online, but there's a Faerie Magazine. It features all sorts of interesting people, and has stories and even a page by Froud (!) each time. It's a magazine from the UK, but I get it here in the US at a faerie boutique near me.

There's definitely a fairy community! Not sure if there is a forum like this type (mernetwork) but yes, the magazine, the conventions for fairies were definitely before mermaid conventions, lots of ren faire goers are fairies. And there's lots of fairies on facebook, twitter, etc. Check out "twig the fairy" on facebook. She is to the fairie community what Hannah Fraser is to the mermaid community!! :)

Twig the fairy is awesome!

Pennsylvania has a faery festival in the spring time. I went once, and it was a blast!

I've heard a bit about Twig. She sounds fantastic :) Did she participate in the WMAs as a mer? I think I saw a photo of her somewhere.

By the way I found a group called The Fae of the Wildwood http://www.facebook.com/FaeOfTheWildwood
They do performances and appearances and such. Looks like they wear a bunch of Renae Taylor wings.
I love their costumes and character personalities.

mindlessdancer on mer.yuku had a handle that directed to http://surlalunefairytales.yuku.com/forums/1/Fairy-Tales-and-Folklore-Discussions#.Tt1HCLIk6dA

You should also ask Winged Mermaid Iona (one of the MerNetwork site administrators) - she'd probably know.
