When I mad my tail during the summer of 2014 It was a perfect fit an then I lost some weight an now it is kinda loose. I have taken it in some, but now I can not take it in anymore without ruining it an I would really like not to ruin it. It fits really great but around the waist it is loose. Any ideas on how to make it stay up when I swim without taking it in any more?

It is the black tail I am wearing in my picture.

Is it fabric? If so put it inside out then pin down the sides of the fabric, right where the sewings are. sew it again around the waist, try to make it as tight as possible, then cut the extra fabric. It would fit better that way! You could add an elastic band inside the waist line. check out mermaid sasha's tutorial in the tutorials list :D

The tail is Smoothskin neoprene with a zipper in the back.

Very nice MermaidShelly but just a bit much for my wallet. If I had the money I would say yes.

Ah. Maybe you could make one out of neoprene or fabric? I'm not experienced with tailmaking at all so I wouldn't know if that would be something easy and/or achievable but I had just gotten the idea just now lol

I do have quite a bit of this neoprene left over from when I made this tail. I might be able to come up with something.

Have you tried contacting a tailor to ask if they can take it in? I'm seriously curious what a normal tailor would say if you asked. Shouldn't they be able to do it?

Is there a way you could add darts to the waistline to take it in?

Malinghi at one time I did ask a tailor to take in one on my tails when I was living in Amsterdam NY an I got such a funny look an then they asked what fabric it was made out of an then said sorry they didn't work with that type of fabric. @ PearlMae I did add some darts the first time I took it in an it has gotten to the point where I am not sure if I can do any more to take it in.
At one time I was thinking maybe something along the line of suspenders which would be hooked to my tail, not sure if it would look right or maybe some type of belt. I do have some 1 inch nylon strips that will go around my waist, but tring to figure out if I should put it on the inside or the outside. Then tring to figure out on how to put it on the tail without it looking tacky. Any ideas on that?

Hide it with a tight diving belt. Don't have to use weights.
