So yesterday I bit the bullet and cut off - get this - 20 INCHES of hair and now I have a chin-length bob.
My hair had successfully reached my butt, but with the achievement came a lot of complications. Getting caught under my arms, in doors, not being able to rise out of bed because I'm laying on it. And the shedding was getting too much. The time it takes to wash it, dry it. And then because I have started fencing again, having long hair is just not very practical as it just swing around and I risk my opponents' blade getting caught up in it, and mussing up when I take my mask off etc. Also, job hunting (you know - 'get a haircut..') Gotta have serious hair if I wanna be taken seriously.
So here is the end result.

I'm going to be looking at purchasing and trialing using Irish dancing wigs. :)

Pardon my asking but where were you looking to get hired where they said that? I've only ever heard that complaint made towards men in the workplace is why I'm curious.
I'm glad you're happy with it, perhaps shorter hair suits you more? When I lay down I just brush my hair off to the side so as to not lay on it, but I understand your frustration.... it certainly is a time investment.

ermagerd I am so shocked!!!
But it looks super fab on you! It took me a second to get over the shock haha cuz you're so known for your tresses. BUt good for you I think it looks great and I have always found short hair to be very liberating!

I wasn't looking anywhere. But it's important that I look well presented for interviews. I was rocking locks that were 7 years old and that also dawned on me that that was rather creepy.
Its ts true nothing beats real hair when mermaiding, but like I said, I can use hair pieces as a substitute :)
Raina: I always thought Marla and Merlissa were better known for their hair but I at least have some footage to remember my hair by! It does feel liberating and I'm glad I did it. So much easier to care for.

I'm so glad that you're happy with your new look! It really does suit you, and it's good that you feel like you made the right choice :) it looks AMAZING!!
as for me though, although my hair is a total butt to look after (brushing, tons of washing, getting caught on stuff, and finding hair EVERYWHERE) I love my long hair, and want to grow it as long as I can. I don't think I'd have the willpower to actually cut it properly, and I make sure my mum dosen't go crazy when she trims it >.<

Yeah I used to be the same way. I went through a lot of anxiety over deciding whether to cut it or not. But, there it is.
I didn't want to allow my hair to control me. It should not have to be something to fret over.

Cute hairstyle! Mine is the opposite.
I've been trying to grow it out to back length but whenever it gets past ear length, I say, "Stuff this! Can't be bothered looking after it! Haircut next week!"
That's been happening for the past 30 years... I've had the same short hair style since childhood because its wash and wear.

Being well groomed is important no matter what length your hair is heh My hair is down to the small of my back and I care about it a lot so I'd be super bummed out if a job was telling me to cut it.
Change is good! Rock the new look and if you miss it you can always grow it back

Oh gosh! With your new haircut you remind me of Dana Skully from the X-Files! I have been watching that a lot on Netflix recently.
