any mers interested in being in a youtube series?? (chosen compensation included.)

I have actually been working on this for awhile now and have officially begun the process.

I am looking for 5 merfolk whom live in Texas, preferable the DFW area, but I can budge on that a bit. (the reason I am not posting in the texas pod is in case any other mers from other pods can somehow make it work or that they know of mers in Texas that are not on the forum.

Now, I have been talking with the professional LaNyah here on mernetwork (and etsy, and facebook) So after speaking with her I have decided in exchange for acting I will be buying each mer a silicone tail from her, and each actor gets to decide their color design and the fluke choices LaNyah provides. (each tail includes up to 6 extra fins which can be custom, there are 3 fluke options, and there are two monofins options: a Finis Wave or SpecialFins Dolphin, there might be one more monofin added at a later date.) The tails will be for the show however each actor will be able to keep and use the tails for whatever as long as they take care of them and always bring them to shoot.

here is a small description of the parts available and the kind of mer I am looking for. I want this show to be very diverse so I encourage people from all walks of life whom are interested to send me a pm. Also, MANY of the characters are a part of the LGBTQA+ so if you are not supportive or cannot play a role 'like that' this is probably not the gig for you.

Dean: Gay merman who despite getting into lots of trouble tends to be the voice of reason for matters of the heart. No one knows what he does for work, although many can probably guess. If you are interested in this role I encourage you to be familiar with the youtube show "50% off!" and 'friends'. (for the youtube show then the other.)

Lana: cis lesbian mermaid whom is very athletic (mostly into parkour and martial arts.) is very chill and confident. She is also in a band as the lead singer in a local band, so although you do not NEED a musical back ground, it would be a plus. if you are interested in this role you should familiarize your self with the show "steven universe" and "avatar: the legend of Korra".

Maria: Trans woman whom is a proffesional sea witch, has a surprisingly calm demeanor and can appear very placid except when she becomes angry and then she tends to get very passionate. Kimi: a adorable mermaid whom is very feminine and loves everything 'girly', she is also very passionate about weight lifting and MMA fighting. she can be very quiet but when talking about things she is passionate for she gets very excited. For this character a general knowledge of pippy long-stocking and Buffy the vampire slayer might help.

Taylor: Agender mer, the camera mer of the show, they will have very few speaking lines and will not show up on camera till the end of the show. So this is more a position for someone to be a camera person with a little acting on the side. The person interested in this role should be familiar with "the office."


I will discuss the characters more in length to those whom are interested.

To make sure there are no worries I will just make everything clear. The mers whom I decide for the show will not be giving me so much as a dime, all they need is to be willing to drive to locations, have a certain amountof commitment (maybe just once a week to shoot) and act in the scenes.

For right now I am just seeing whom is interested on this forum before I go looking around my area, I would prefer the actors being apart of the mermaid community before looking else where. So if you are interested please let me know ^______^

(oh, and you will notice I used trans and cis in two characters and neither in the others, this is because those characters can be portrayed as either, so for example if someone wanted to be Dean and is a trans merman they can feel free to ask that the character be portrayed as trans and vise versa, the only characters that are definitely cis or trans are the ones listed above.)

aw, well unfortunately you might have been right, one, the camera mer will pretty much only be the person whom plays Taylor, and if you can't get around on a relatively consistent basisit probably would be an issue. Dang it, I am so sorry! maybe in the future when the cast gets larger if you are still interested? :D

I'm definitely interested! I live in Irving, have reliable transportation, and am comfortable in front of the camera. Unfortunately I am not a part of the LGBTGA+ community, but I think I would be a good fit for the role of Lana. I am 5'2" and 150 lbs so I do need to loose some weight/gain muscle, but my summer job is going to have me running from one end of a water park to another serving drinks, so hopefully that will help! I do sing and was in choir for many years, so I have a background in music though don't ask me to sight read any sheet music... :sweat drop:

I am thinking filming will start in summer of next year, so that way there is plenty of time for the tails to be made and for me to pick the best mers for the role. I think once filming starts at least meeting once if not twice a week would be best.

It is not an explicit show by any means but many same sex characters will have on screen kissing scenes, just so people are aware.


I plan to make little individual applications for each character so that when someone is interested Ican send them an application and if they seem to fit I will arrange a public meeting somewhere so that we can talk face to face before I choose.

I feel the same way, So I am making it a priority to hold out for awhile, I wanna give all types of mers a chance to show interest if they like . So when a good amount of mers have showed their interest I will give out an email and send applications and pick the one I think is best, so lookout for that!

I'm a performer (mostly stage and childrens parites) but I'm very comfprtable with acting and any of the female chacarters would be something I could do.
