View Full Version : Flesh-colored neoprene/swimsuit fabric?
I realized that all the swim bottoms I have tie at the sides (I have "violin hips" so regular bottoms make me look like I have a constant muffin top :$), so I can't wear them under a tail unless I want to have weird... hip knuckles or something. I'd like to make my own custom-fit swim bottoms to wear under my tail, preferably in a nude color so it won't be super obvious if my tail slips down a little. I had planned to make them out of powermesh but omg that stuff is seriously see-through, I'd probably get arrested if I tried to wear bottoms made from it in public! I'm having a helluva time finding any swim-friendly fabric or neoprene in nude - anyone out there in merworld know where I can get some?:mermaid kiss:

I've never seen flesh-colored neoprene (you could make a really creepy wetsuit with that, lol). If you live near a major city, you could explore its textile district/obscure fabric stores and see if you get lucky with swim fabric.
Personally though, I have a green tail, so I bought a pair of green scale bottoms from FinFun to wear under my tail. They're cheap, nicely lined, and match the green silicone well enough so they're alright with me. ...Really though, you should probably just wear any kind of comfortable swim bottom and wear a belt or tailor your tail if you're worried about it falling down.

I know that there is a wetsuit place in QLD (australia) that provides "skin coloured" neoprene. mind that's skin coloured if you're Caucasian, and you're skin colour would have to be pretty close to the colour of paper tbh. they've provided regular neoprene for Hannah Fraser in the past.

they also provide for jmb fx studio i.e, h2o, mako, aquamarine etc

You can get flesh colored NEOPRIN online or go a Joanns and get swimsuit liner and do two layers of that. I think that would work. Actually, I've seen lots of flesh colored fabric at Joanns. I'd check there first.

I've found flesh-tone spandex at a few different fabric stores around my area. One layer is decently opaque, two layers completely is.

Lots of the stripper "dance" bottoms come in flesh tone (if you're Caucasian) and are made of swim fabric. I have one, it's great.

Nude color on top and a darker colored fabric underneath.
That's what I did, when I made my one piece fish suit. Surface is green flower like my practice tail and inside of the swim suit is leftover dark fabric from my other tail. Because the dark fabric has patterns, when the fish suit is wet, it does show through in random places. But not obvious, its like a double layer pattern.
