Richard Van Loot tails?

So there's a guy on my Facebook feed who has recently started making tails for sale (I think?). His tails are lovely! Unfortunately, I cant tell much about what he's doing because he's french and the goggle translate either doesn't work well or he has bad grammar so it can't translate right. I dunno.

It seams like he makes them out of a mix of sequin fabric (or hologram spandex by some of his pictures) and silicone or latex.

Wow, they're beautiful! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this guy's page. I wonder what the monofin in them is like? With the fluke shape it looks to me like they'd be cut down the middle a fair bit, and that makes me wonder what the propulsion is like on the finished tails. I might be wrong, though! It'd hard to tell from the photos and I don't know that much about monofins. XD

Times like these I really wish I'd paid more attention in french class!

I agree with both of you- I love the sparkle the tails have, and the fluke is a stunning shape! But I also wonder how much power is lost from the cut? You get most of your propulsion from the center of the fin... But they make up for it with this sparkly colors!! I love the aqua and purple :D :D I want to see more :)

That Mermaidia fluke design is so pretty! :swoon: I'm not sure how practical it would actually be in the water, but I love the shape. It reminds me of a betta!

Quick! Does anybody remember what that ritual was to summon Arion? Something about a pentagram and a Starbucks cup... He might be able to translate at least some of the images for us!

They're colorful, eye-catching, unique, and although the images are digitally rendered and not photographs of final products they do a good job showing the available shapes and colors, and from what little French I know, they seem to include plenty of clear info for his clientele.

My french is rusty but from what I can understand some of the silicone cannot be in contact with skin.


Nest pas en contact avec la peau -
sans contact direct la peau
Both mean no contact with skin and refer to the mastic inodor. My guess, caulking and definitely not skin safe.

I think he makes spandex ones with silicone scales slipcast. With this mastic and the option for dragonskin.

Pretty tho. Iffy since theres only one tail but lots of drawings.

I'm friends with Richard on Facebook. I'm gonna ask him some more details about his products and I will be working on translating his images. Unless Richard already prepared an English version? While waiting, please, do not speculate much about the products he's using. I'm well aware the barriere language is tricky here and I agree that he's not being very clear as his images are heavy and have a ton of infos. But know this : Richard IS NOT Aurore la sirène. His tails have way more quality. Claire la sirène et I can vouch for him.

Wow the ritual must have worked :P I wish you could Tag people on here except summon sounds better haha - I think he has made some tails for a TV ad and I saw some pics of him in the pool with them. Also from his FB it looks like it is fabric based with a silicone fluke. He has some progress pics on his page. I think the tails look lovely and it does say DragonSkin so hopefully will be a new tail maker on the horizon ! I like how many options he has made and I think the posters are very pretty ! I like the tail artwork :)

Maybe you have the option for a Dragon skin or Caulking tail, with the caulking tails being made for a quick photoshoot?

Yeah, I totally get that. I think I'm mostly impressed with the colors because I'm colorblind and as a result, a lot of advertisements I see tend to look pretty dull or washed out with a single color. It's not often that something really pops out to me so when it happens I get kind of excited. XD

Aside from the murky water, bad camera work, and the mer-model not being a very good swimmer, the bad fit would make me wait to see other examples. The glitter was nice, though.

I totally agree with Pearlie. The fit is teeeerrrible on that model. Part of me hopes it's because it's a premade that they threw on her, and wasn't actually made custom for her, because in terms of measurements, hoo boy... What a mess.

That said, I really like the colors on that tail and the overall movement (she swims about as well as I do, lol). If it just fit her properly, it'd look gorgeous IMO.

It looks like it's cast really thin, though. I'd be worried about tearing it or scraping it too much.

The sizing is the only thing I have issue with on the tail— besides that, it's gorgeous and I'm really in love with the paint job. Besides the overall bagginess, it looks really natural!

I'm not being harsh. It's a poor choice for a "promotional"video, I can't see the tail very well, the fit is bad, and from what little I CAN see, the fluke sculpt looks like combed caulking. The dorsal is stiff - and maybe it's meant to be - and I can't make out any detail of the paint job other than a flash of glitter, or maybe sequins.

Pardon me if I'm blunt.

Edit: I retract the combed caulk remark, on third viewing, I see it it's sculpted. Don't care for the paint job, though.
