anyone selling scale sheets?

does anyone sell them? I've been trying to find someone who would name a price for two scale sheets. With a full time job and school I just don't have the time to sit around and lay scales/make molds etc.

If you know anyone who would be willing I'd LOVE to hear about it!

I suggested it a few years ago, back when Merbellas was just starting out, and Raven was considering selling some leftover latex parts, though I don't know if she ever did. I don't see why this couldn't be a thing, though if anyone offers, you might want to do your research to make sure you're getting what you want. There could be problems with parts being older, too.

It might help if you specify what kind of material you want. Were you thinking latex or silicone?

Trading scales does sound fun! And if you wanted you could trade flukes too, since we all kinda have our own molds, it would be something different from what we do have.

I was going to offer flukes if anyone liked my shape. Shame to have that mold just sitting there, used once then tossed. I'd be into trading scales, too! :) Wouldn't it be fun to have a "mix and match" parts section here by all the DIY folks? "Help! I need a new fin, quick!" "Gotcha covered!"

i DO hope to have my own fluke shape though, I am hoping for silicone scales, doesn't have to be anything special just regular circles would do me fine for now haha

If you don't have time to make a scale sheet you probably don't have time to make the tail . :( you'd still have to sculpt a fluke and fins. (Not trying to be negative, just trying to point out what everyone always says about making a tail.) also wouldn't it be hard to ship something that large and fragile?


THAT BEING SAID I think if someone makes a tail for themselves and has the extra parts lying around I see no reason NOT to offer them up for sale. :)

I've been wanting to do this too! There are fluke shapes from other mers that I would love to have and would rather purchase from them rather than risk being a copy cat.

I'm open to pouring some scale sheets. My mold was made to fit my body though, so I can't do anything too long/wide. My scales are rather pronounced though, and the odd shape might not be what you are looking for. I'd have to play with numbers to figure out a price.

It makes sense if the parts were priced at or very close to at cost. Since they would just be unpainted parts. That you would have to later assemble on your own.

it took me approximately 1/6 of the bucket-o-goo for my fluke (2 halves) and it probably weighs under 10 lbs (I'd have to check). Current price of bucket-o-goo with shipping: approximately $200. So....um...$40-60 with shipping (US) for a fluke (no monofin) if it were entirely at cost?

(My calculations are totally half-assed, partly because I don't know how much shipping runs these days. Silicone is really dense!)

Having actually assembled one of my hip fins, I'd be embarrassed to sell them. They don't match up very well at all!
