Hi all! I'm Tabby (aka Hinata from my facebook) and I have loved mermaids my entire life. But I never knew about mermaiding until I found this site! I am psyched to learn everything I can and especially breathing techniques - I still wear nose plugs sadly.

Welcome! It is a great time to get started in mermaiding now that the weather is warming up. Hopefully by mid summer you will be out swimming in your first tail! :)
If you try searching the forum there is probably bound to be at least one article about holding your breath without nose plugs. I wish I could help but I haven't ever had to use nose plugs.

Ah thankies for the warm welcome! I really hope so - I'm saving the money now for one from growatail.com - they have unbreakable monofins! So I thought it'd be great since it comes with the tail with a $109 price tag. And in the meantime, I can make accessories!

Welcome! I saw your post over in the "North Carolina Mers?" post. If you want to try the Greensboro Aquatic Center the cost of $5/visit. I usually bring an extra monofin with me when I visit, in case someone wants to try it out. :)

I checked them out, and you need to be wary about the holographic fabric they use. It doesn't last very long in water, the chlorine eats it.
On another note, Finfun has also changed their monofin to an unbreakable one.
