Project Neverland Tails

Hi everyone!!

So as of late, I have been contemplating building my own silicone tails, and with my poor Ferrari's tragic accident, i have had the proverbial fire lit under my tail. So far, I have gathered materials needed for my scale box, which includes clay and gold dubloons, and wood. I managed to get one giant piece of plywood for ten bux that cut nicely into three pieces: one giant pice for the scales, one big enough for the fluke, and a smaller piece for sculpting my gilded fins (I will post pictures of my designs this evening).

So yes, Claudefish is now releasing the name of his tail company...and opening this new thread to post my progress for the merfolkses! I have decided to call my company "Neverland Tails" as the designs i intend to bring to life will be a bit whimsical in appearance.....well, that is enough for now, i have to get back to work! Stay tuned for pics!! *bounces off on a giant jelly*

Good luck! Just, have you checked that the name is okay? I'm pretty sure 'Neverland' is trademarked by Disney, so I'd just make sure. You wouldnt want a legal battle.

I would advise to check as risingnmermaid said too...though I'm sure Peter Pan is now public domain so shouldn't be an issue.

I've always had a huge interest in neverland and especially its mermaids (of course) so can't wait to see what you do!

That is a good idea, i will have to look into it! Last thing i want is a thousand angry dwarves hunting me down with pick axes and torches...again =(

Okay, so due to the fact that i don't really have a suitable space for my work, i have decided that instead of sculpting my scales, for now i will have to use the foam circle method. It is a lot cleaner and i wont have to worry so much about breaking scales when i transport the sheet downstairs to make my fiberglass mold.

May I ask why there are small coins in place of some of the scales? Is that just to demonstrate size or are you playing around with design?

If you are adding those coins to the mold you are a genius! Such a clever idea!Love the progress so far! So exciting! Also, I definitely wouldnt fret about the whole name thing. You'll probably want to make a couple of test tails before you starts selling them anyway so you can make sure you have the process down and are comfortable with everything. Just curious, are you going to make custom flukes/fins? Or just a basic design for a while? Its always exciting to me to see the start-up of a company! :D

Sorry its been two weeks with no updates, things got crazy busy with work and renfaire orders and whatnot.... to answer the questions about the gold coins: i fully intend to use the coins to make molds, so that i can accent my tails with them...like they are tucked into the scales...however, due to the fact that not everyone will like the idea, i am making singular molds of the coins so i can cast them separately and add them to the finished tails as requested =)

And as for my dwarves reference, all i can say is it involved a night out to west hollywood dressed as the evil queen on Halloween, drinking way too much vodka, and chasing a snow white costumed dragqueen....as luck would have it, she was just a part of a group costume, and the rest of the evening i found myself running from dwarves because i snagged her bow.
