Mermaid Wesley

Here's the deal, my fishy friends:
Wesley is my REAL name. Now originally I didn't see a problem with this, but after some time, I have realized that it is really hard for me to get in character without a set character. I'm decent at improv when I have a character and a name to use, but when I'm Mermaid Wesley I just feel like... me in a tail. And that's great too, but not what I want for my slowly developing business.
I also have realized that people can find me on facebook and other sites pretty easily, and as someone without a stable career, and who is planning on teaching high school, that is not okay. I think I need to rebrand myself, change all my usernames (Not here, though. You all can have my real name, I trust ya), and adopt a new mersona.
It all starts with a name, right? Well when I started looking into fairy costuming, I somehow settled quite quickly on the name Wisty. Short for Wisteria, and very flittery and fairy-like, if I do say so myself. Now, I have grown sort of attached to that name. Do you think it would work as a mermaid name? Its not aquatic at all, but its cute.
"Wisty the Mermaid"
I like it, but I want some HONEST opinions on if its mermaidy enough. And any advice on keeping the mermaid job separate from my (future) everyday job would be greatly appreciated. What do you all think?
