Hi,
After a few weeks of lurking I finally take the time to introduce myself.
I have recently started swimming in a monofin club, and last week I bought my own monovin :D
I have bought a medium type 2 Waterways monofin, and am planning on making my own fabric tail soon.
One of my other main hobby is Lolita fashion,
Would also love to meet other Dutch mermaids :) Do you have tips for swimming? I recently got in a bit of a fight with my local pool

Welcome Feilian (I read this as 非恋 :thinks:), there are quite a few dutch mermaids on here.
If you search a bit in tailswimming or such, we discuss pool rules and fights about what is allowed frequently, it's inconsistent and often aggravating sadly.
I hope you find a pool that isn't dumb and lets you use your monofin/tail.

Welcome!
I also have a Waterway model 2 monofin :) (and a Finis Foil which my boyfriend uses)
May I ask where you live? I'd love to swim with some other mers. :D

Great to read there are more Dutchies on here. I'm from Lelystad, but I travel to Hoorn every friday evening to go to the monofin club.
I've been able to (kind of) solve the problems with my pool

Hoorn!
I'm from there, before I moved out to Wageningen for school.
Is the club called Monovinz and your trainer Milo? at De Waterhoorn? :jawdrop:
I used to swim there too! There were three mermaids there, but they all disappeared.

Yes  Never imagined that I would find other mermaids who have swum there :D
I don't think there are anymore mermaids nowadays at the Monovinz club, but I'll be sure to change that ;)

I'm home next week, so I'm sure I can visit Monovinz on friday...?

Would be so awesome to meet you :D Though I haven't got a tail yet :$

Okay, I'll be at de Waterhoorn friday. :D
You can buy a fabric tail real cheap (under €100,-) at Marktplaats from DutchTails. ;)
But they make fluke the shape of the monovin. So if you don't like the shape of the foil or the finis mermaidfin you might want to look somewhere else.
Mine is from there, and I modified it a bit to match my style.

Yay, I'm so excited :D
Never knew that those would fit other momofins, that would save me so much trouble (I'm not that great with the sewing machine). Guess I'll be saving up for one of the pre-made tails

Uhmm, if your talking about my Waterway replacing the foil without changing anything about the fluke. I might have to disappoint you...
I had to buy extra black fabric to sew a fluke that would fit around my Waterway... (see my avatar, or for more info my tail Makeover thread)
but I think if you ask for it and send you monofin measurments to them she will alter the fluke to fit your fin how you want it.

And here I was thinking I could just be a lazy mermaid :p I have used my spending money for this month on the monofin so I have another month to think about what I want.

hehe, I thought that too before I bought and had my tail. ;)
At first i was disappointed that it was not the way I wanted it.
But now, I'm having so much fun making it into the tail I want to have, even though I'm scared to death using the sewingmachine to sew all the stuff I need. My mom helped me the fist few times, cause before this I had never ever seriously worked with a sewing machine, but slowly I get better. :)
But you know, we can talk about all that friday while swimming. :D
just curious, you bought your monovin directly from Milo?
Feilian

No, I bought it from Rob in Loosdrecht, on recommendation of Milo.

If one of you Dutchies are on the other side of the Netherlands, let me know. I frequently swim in Vaassen. :)

Well, most of the time I live in Bennekom and to get to Vaasen it would take me 4u2min with OV. Where by car it would be around 30min, but I own no car nor a driving license... :(
But I'd love to meet you some day :) (and see you tail up close since somewhere in the future I also want to buy a Finfolk tail)

Maybe one day, but might take a while if everything goes according to plan ;)

I have a drivers license, so if there are any places which are more suitable we could hang out. :) (I also have a go pro for some fun footage)

I might have been confused where Vaassen is, is it near Zwolle? Because that is pretty doable from Lelystad :D Do they allow fin swimming there?
I'm still a beginner without a tail though, but I try to practice 3 times a week to get better.

The pool in my area allows my monvins and fabric tail, I don't know about silicone tails, but I think when you stay in one lane it'll be alright.
(or maybe one day when you have the time and want to, we could all meet up in Hoorn at the monovin club in the evening, it's for sure they'll allow tails and monvinz. #crazy suggestion)

I'm at the club in Hoorn every friday evening, so you can find me there ;)
I'm really wondering how shocked my local pool would react to a tail
CowgirlMermaid

The pool in Hoorn doesn't allow monovins or swim fins outside the hour (and lapspool) that Monovinz hires. :(
(Although I got to swim twice in the recreational pool, when there were only three people swimming, so no change of hurting someone with my fin :D)
But the pool in Bennekom does allow my monovinz and tail while other people are swimming.
So I think it really depends on the pool and the lifeguards working at the moment your there. :)

It's above Apeldoorn and below Zwolle. They have no problems at all with mono fins or tails. I can train there during special hours or have fun and swim when it's open for everyone. I'm also allowed to take pics and film.
