Hello! So I've been here for a while and I mostly just lurk, however I've notice a ton of you guys seem to know each other and have a ton of friends! I'd really like to get to know you guys! So lets just get to know each other a bit and have some mermaid talk!
I'll start!
I'm Mermaid Shaylee Moon! I like to think of myself as a fun tropical mermaid as I live in Puerto Rico! I am currently waiting for my new tail from Mermaid Kassandra and I am suuuuuuuuuper duper excited to have a better tail! She has been very great with customer service as well! I have other mermaid friends here in Puerto Rico but for now very little of them actually have tails. I'm really interested in making more mermaid friends so I'd like to hear about some of you guys!
On another note I discovered the Hydraulophone from another post here i mernetwork and wow I liked that a bunch is that even something someone can try and buy somewhere? I'd like to know if any of you know because I absolutely fell in love with the nessie Hydraulophone! It would be super neat to use one of those for mermaid gigs!!!!

Hello!
I'm mermaid Gaelle, and I live in Eastern Canada. There is no mermaid to be seen over here!
I'm not a mermaid yet.... But I bought my monofin yesterday, and I can't wait to receive it! My mermaid tail will wait for this summer, when I'll make a fabric one.
I would love to make accointance with you, kisses from Montreal!

Oh how lovely! My first tail was actually a finfun. Thats the monofin I use now for practicing since Mermaid Kassandra makes custom monofins for her tails. Do you have many natural swimming spots over there in Canada?

Hi! I'm MerDude Ricky. Kaguria The Kitsune Mermaid helped me come up with that name. I don't get a chance to swim very often since I don't have access to pools. So I consider myself landlocked. There's no other mers here in riverside county (that I know of) so I don't get much reason to put on my tail. I have a tail from mermagica. My plan was to learn to swim in it before moving on to silicone. But I'll wait. Non of my friends are into mermaiding so I get discouraged sometimes and have to keep reminding myself how cool this is. For now, I see it as a goal to one day be able to attend many more meet ups and to one day own a pool so I can swim till my fins are sore.

I'd be super excited. How long till you get it? Yeah I have a fabric one from the2tails. I haven't been swimming in it yet though. I'm currently working on a shell top.

Hi there! I'm still a mer looking for a name who usually ends up lurking on the forums a lot. :P My tail is still under construction, too. I've only seen one other mer who shares my town, but I don't think she's joined up here. I'm still pretty landlocked because I don't always have enough extra cash to go swim at the pool, but hopefully that'll change this fall.

Hey, my name is Mermaid Shimmer, I am in the US, in Arkansas. 19 years old. I have a fabric tail, but im saving up to make my own silicone tail. :)

My current tail from Kassandra is part fabric and part silicone! The fins will be silicone and the body is spandex. I assumed that would help me slowly ease in to silicone as well as not hit too hard on my wallet!

Hey everyone! I'm Delphinus, but my given name is Gregory. I'm new to this wonderful community of aquatically inclined folk, but I've been in love with the sea and everything about it forever! I'm going to be ordering a fabric tail pretty soon, and probably giving it some modification to make it my own! haven't decided concretely on a true merman name yet, but I do have a special tail planned for down the road that makes a lot of sense with Delphinus, so Delphinus it is!

Welcome! I like your avatar! So since you are a tropical mermaid I am guessing the weather is always nice for swimming? Sounds really fun!
Hey Merdude Ricky are you sure there isn't a creek or river you could swim in nearby? Living in a place called Riverside makes me think there might be a nice river you could swim at. I live very close to the beach but I still really want to go swimming at a pretty river about an hour from me.

Weather is USUALLY nice for swimming ha, this winter actually made waters a lot colder than what I'm used to! Luckily winters here are very short, well luckily for swimming, for land purposes not so luckily. Scorching hot over here and its only spring! On the bright side that does mean more reasons to be in the pool

Hi! I'm bettababy, will be changing over to my newly chosen mername as soon as my tail is finished (Mermaid Menanna). I am in the process of making my first tail (spandex) and am super excited, can't wait to hit the water. I'm a "grandma-mer", not sure how many older mers are here on the forum. I'm also Native American, thus the chosen mername. :) I grew up in the water and although I haven't been able to get out swimming in years, I am thoroughly enjoying the prep work that is going into my return to the water. The only thing about me that could be more fish-like is if I were to grow gills. I'm an aquatics specialist & nutritionist, so fish are my life. I specialize in aquatic medicine and have worked in the aquarium industry for almost 25 yrs now. I have very little furniture in my house because there just isn't room for it... my home is pretty much wall to wall aquariums, both fresh and saltwater.
I have 3 kids, 2 grandkids, and another grandbaby on the way come September/October. My kids and husband were the few people who didn't raise an eyebrow when I announced I would be making my first tail this year. They know me well enough I guess, lol. But, my friends are a bit baffled by it, not all of them supportive. I would love to make more merfriends since there are none that I am aware of local to me. I live in a small country town and I am just waiting for the reaction I know is coming with all of this, but hopefully they won't be too harsh.

Hi - I'm Sharon. I am brand new to the forum. I recently joined the pod for the South. I live on the Space Coast of Florida. I attended the Sirens of the Deep Mermaid Camp in Weeki Wachee, FL and dreamed of being a mermaid ever since. It sure looked like a difficult job at Weeki Wachee. There was so much for those princes and mermaids to learn to perform. I learned a little bit about the different hoses and the safety aspect. I was mostly taught water ballet (which I really wasn't very good at) and to dive to certain areas in the spring (which I loved). I had a mermaid trainer who performed at Weeki Wachee in 1969. She still performs with a Siren of the Deep group from time to time.
I used to scuba dive quite a bit and I loved it. The cost has kept me from going back for awhile, but I did think that it was great fun.
I am usually an ice skater and I was performing with a theatrical group on ice. I will get back to doing that in July this year. Otherwise, I just would love to hang out with some fellow mermaids. I don't have a tail, yet though I did swim with one at Weeki Wachee. I wanted to learn a lot more before buying a tail.:)
