handicapped mermaid from Massachusetts

As it says, I'm handicapped. I have a leg disability but I can still swim okay though most of my monofin adventures will probably be limited to shallow water.

I'm mostly really interested in costume making and a few friends and I recently decided to seriously start working on some mermaid costumes for our own enjoyment. Starting with fabric tails, but we're very excited to get creative with prosthetics and costuming them up!

I have a part time gig doing Elsa from Frozen at kids parties through a friend's business so maybe this can be something we incorporate for other party types!

Thanks! I'm actually really pleased it wasn't taken. My astrological sign is Capricorn and since the constellation is in what's called "the sea" I thought it fitting.

Welcome! Where in MA do you live? There's some great shallow water beaches off the cape that I've swam at - Craigville Beach is my fav! Gray's Beach is also great! Both have relatively low surf and tend to be quieter, but with lifeguard protection, just in case.

I'm from western Massachusetts and I'm a beginner Merfairy as well. I got my first tail a spandex tail from Fin Fun Mermaid in Arctic Blue with monofin, matching tankini top, bikini top, and bikini bottom in October 2014.
Where in Massachusetts are you from? Cause if you are near maybe we can hang out and go to mermaid meets together and maybe the parade as well since me and my fiancé don't have a car.
I'm on Facebook as well and my name there is Rebekah Leigh, so maybe we can chat there sometime about everything that I said above.

Hi Caprica. I'm a beginner Mer as well. I haven't even swimmed in my tail yet since I got it cause the winter was so cold. I have only warn it twice now, 1st for Halloween and the 2nd was 2 days after Christmas. I haven't gone to any mermaid meets either and I haven't gone to any of the parades yet either.
Like I said before I only got a hold of you cause Mermaid Linspdsay directed me to you cause I'm looking for a Mer friend that lives near me that I could msg d meet up with sometime and teach me the things that I need to know about being a mermaid under the water and maybe go to mermaid meets and parades with.
My monofin is from Fin Fun Mermaid but I know it will eventually will brake over time, so I'm thinking of when I can of getting a replacement fin from them that is back on their site and a blue Mahina Merfin that is made out of rubber and as far as s good monofin for you I think if you can go with the Compeitor Monofin that I think is made from Finis.

I too am a Capricorn...and a huge nerdy Sci-Fi fan and with a nod to BSG and my sign I had also chosen and been waiting to announce that name when I reveal my new tail in a couple weeks when it arrives. My boyfriend was born with a clubbed foot and from the surgery he had to have as a little boy it has made one of his legs smaller and weaker than the other leg. He usually doesn't have trouble with his foot/leg unless if he has been walking a lot or running too much. While he hasn't swam a whole lot in my monofin, he seems to enjoy it and is able to swim really well in it. I have a Finis Rapid monofin.
