So I was swimming with my homemade tail (swimming spandex) and I noticed there was a tiny hole, near the top of it. Did the chlorine from the pool literally burn a hole through it? O_o the tail is old to, about 5 years old at this point.

its probably just from wear and tear. the concert of the pool goes at your tail more and more and 5 years is pretty long for a fabric tail. i can tell ya that your tail is alot lighter now then when you first baught it too.

Wow 5 years!? Do you swim in it often? We were recently talking about the lifespan of fabric tails and I had gathered that generally they seem to last a few months to a year, but 5 years is very impressive!

I'm going to say that it's definitely not the chlorine haha! It's just wear and tear, as said above. You probably just scratched it on the bottom of a pool or a step :)

I wore it mostly during summer seasons only, I'm so busy during the school year, I don't have a lot of time to hit the pool. The tail was home made too.

I'd say five years is pretty amazing! Just sew it up if it really bothers you.

If it is really thin, be careful about sewing it up though. It could make the hole worse if the surrounding fabric is really weak.

Ahhh that's true. I assumed since this seemed to surprise you that the rest of the tail was in peek condition. Be sure to check that!

Maybe an entire tail of it, if it's not properly cured. Aquarium safe tubed silicone is fine once fully cured.

5 years really isn't bad! I don't think my bathing suits last that long. The fabric is more likely to lose its elasticity and get a bit brittle rather than tear.
