MerMaisy mentioned the idea of a nude-coloured wetsuit to wear with a tail in cold water.
Well, it just so happens I know where to get such a thing, and they even sell sheets of flesh-coloured neoprene if you want to make something yourself. So I thought I would start a thread on this topic so it's be easier to find if people do searches.
It's a dive gear manufacturer in the UK. Here is their website https://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/skin-coloured-wetsuit-flesh.html
30499 and they sell flesh-coloured booties and other accessories.
Their prices are actually ridiculously cheap (£99/$154 for a surf-style suit)
I've never asked them whether they make female-cut suits, so YMMV. but at least they're a source of flesh-coloured neoprene sheeting for DIY projects.
There is a company in Australia that makes flesh-coloured neoprene items http://rubberjungle.com/Film-TV-Stunts.aspx and they say they do made-to-measure. If some of our mers in Oceania wanted to follow up, it would be good to hear what they could do.
Also, another UK company, Reed Chill Cheater Ltd., makes a special flesh-coloured fabric they call Flesh Aquatherm that some mers might find useful for makeing undergarments for beating the chill in water
