So, as some of you may have read, I had major top and bottom jaw, and chin surgery on the 10th, and after surgery the doctor confirmed my mouth would be wired shut for 8 weeks. It's only been like 3 days and I'm already resorting to blending up a cupcake with some ice cream. My main staple of food right now are peanut butter banana smoothies, and nothing really else because I'm "picky" or something [emoji23]. I tried soup all blended up but goodness I didn't realize how much I like texture. I'm not really sure if any of you have had to get your jaws wired shut or not before (perhaps a barfight? My surgeon said that's usually why he has to wire mouths shut [emoji16][emoji23]) but I'm in real need of some yummy calorie containing smoothies or milkshakes! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/14/3588a0c9ac72431043197a8bb87eeeea.jpg
Also, here's my before and after X-rays, they're pretty interesting, I think. It's been so new for me to be able to sleep on my back and not wake up because my jaw is closing my airway! (Ps, my dog doesn't recognize me now with my face all swollen, she won't even come near me [emoji22])

I blend one whole avocado with milk and sugar. Tastes amazing cold.
theres also mitts fruitsations you could probably drink through a straw.
Banana blueberry is amazing.
Orange banana and strawberry smoothie is the taste of childhood but elevated.

There are tons of delicious smoothies you can make :D I've made an oat/berries/yoghurt/milk smoothie- a good one for breakfast :) I'm sure if you googled it, lots of good ones would come up :P good luck!

This was literally me in August. I had upper and lower jaw surgery to fix a class three malocclusion. I couldn't eat solid food for a month and a half. I didn't have my mouth wired shut, but honestly with that surgery it doesn't make a difference when it comes to food.
Definitely get some protein powder and some liquid vitamins, b12, e, etc. make sure you are either using powdered calcium or mixing milk into everything. The best thing to do is mix a little bit of meat and vegetables into whatever tastes good. The texture thing sucks and there's nothing that you can really do except suffer through it. I lost 12 pounds in my first week after surgery and I only gained it back after seven months. Just make sure you're getting enough protein and vitamins and natural vegetables. I know that really sucks and I wish you the best recovery possible.
On the bright side it completely changes your face once you've healed!

I've had the lower jaw done already before, when I was 9 I think, and I don't remember it being so terrible! I don't think I'm worried about losing weight, yesterday I blended up two cupcakes and some ice cream [emoji16] Raayvhen, you look so good! I know it's going to be helpful in the long run, but I am so tired of waking up every four hours for meds, and not having anyone understand me! I'm honestly just not appreciative of it right now because a) I'm in so much pain 24/7 and b) because my face is so swollen I can't find my lips to put chap stick on [emoji23][emoji23]
