Everything's (almost) ready

I've been wanting to start my tail since June, and now thanks to Christmas money, and a very special present, I'm just about ready to start my tail!! I'm just waiting on some paints I ordered, and the sample fabric so I know what fabric I'm buying. I have a few more things to pick up and accomplish, but at the moment things are falling into place. :)

Well, I decided on a bluegill tail, but sometime in the future I'll probably make a catfish tail. :) I'm either using mint or hunter green fabric, then orange and silver paint with flashes of blue/ green, depending on which fabric I use. I'm tight on cash, so I'll be using swim fins cut a little bit to make the round edges of the tail and somehow connected instead of a monofin. Now I need to set up my sewing machine. (that's my special present, and actually something I've wanted for a long time)

Aw man! That sounds totally awesome! I am going to hound you for pictures if you don't put them up. XP I know that there are lots of tutorials that teach you how to turn two flippers into a monofin. lolz! :) don't worry, I'll have pictures (I got a waterproof camera for Christmas as well, which I can operate with one hand, unlike my old camera, so I have no excuse for a lack of pictures.. I don't even have a cord to loose, or lend to my friend's brother's friend (funny story there xD) That tutorial's great!

My fabric samples came yesterday while I was away, so today I got to open them up and take a look. Unfortunately, they forgot one of my colors, but at least I didn't lose any money from it. Hopefully I'll get the color soon, but if not I'll either order it again, or pick one from what I have since I'm feeling lazy. Or maybe I'll call. But anyways, I'm still waiting on my paints, and I have yet to set up my sewing machine, so not much has happened yet.

Apparently my paints arrived yesterday, so now they're cold and the box is damp. At least I have them now, soon I'll be ordering the fabric.

change of plans. I can afford to use a foil monofin now, which is on the way. (ten days, minimum!) I'm so excited!!:yay:

Are you still planning on the blue-gill tail, or has it changed?

It changed now, I'm doing a tail with gold, pink, orange, and white, to make the colors similar to a sunrise. I sewed the tail yesterday, and it fits like a glove, but i still have more sewing to do (monofin plus dorsal fin repairs. :( ) but with all my horrible stitching, I'm going to have to have a pretty good paint job. :(

But this was my first sewing project in five years, and my first with spandex, so even though the stitches are less than perfect, I'm proud. I'm not perfect either ;) . :D
