Custom purple, blue, and silver full dragon skin silicone mermaid tail purchased in April 2014 from MerNation for $2,700. Monofin was upgraded to a Finis Competitor. We are only selling this tail due to financial issues. We are asking $1,250 plus shipping, with payment through PayPal only. Please note that this tail was previously listed on eBay a few weeks ago (for those of you who may have seen it listed there and are wondering if this post is legit), but the purchaser was unable to complete the sale.
This tail has been loved and cared for, but it does show some signs of wear as it was used as part of children's entertainment company and is being sold "as-is" (see photos). There are some indentations on the back side of the fluke (see photo...we are honestly not sure how these got there), some minor discoloration on the inside of the the top of the tail, and minor wear and tear to the paint. However, it has tons of life left and is a great tail. It looks beautiful in the water and out of the two tails that we own, it is always the fan favorite.
The tail was made for the measurements noted below. The performer who wore this tail is 5'4.5" tall and 125 pounds. The tail weighs approximately 35 pounds.
Shoe size: women's size 8
Top of the tail to the floor, holding tape away from body: 39.5 inches
Measurements from top of the tail, every 3 inches:
1) 27.75
2) 31
3) 35
4) 37
5) 33.25
6) 29.5
7) 25.25
8) 21.5
9) 20.5
10) 22.5
11) 20.75
12) 15.25

Thanks very much for your interest :-) If you would like additional photos or information, just let us know!

This would be great for me but I have a big shoe size. Size 8.5 is the smallest I can stand on my feet. :( I take it it only fits size 8 and not a general size 7-9 right?

If it's a competitor in there you'll be fine, I have the 7-9 one I usually wear a 9 and I'm good.

is the monofin adjustable? I'm a shoe size 6 1/2. Besides that, the measurements are mine almost exactly!

@Amanda A Ruscher- Haha well I tried to remeasure myself and some dimensions came out differently, so I'm still not sure if the measurements are also within my "range."
@themerrymermaid- What are your ankle, hip, and knee measurements?

Harmony is right: It is a Competitor so it will fit a women's size 7-9.

We're located in WV. Shipping would be dependent on your location. But to give you an idea, it was about $80 to ship this tail from WV to FL.

Honestly, everything else fits perfectly except the shoe size :(
I feel like that's kind of an important one.

Everything fits except I'm 35in around my hips/butt.
I've heard silicone can suction to you in the water but I've also heard it's stretchy? So maybe having too big of a butt might not be a problem? :thinks:Would a mermaid belt help if its too big?

Silicone will stretch. Two girls wore this tail and one had a slightly larger booty than the other and she didn't have any issues fitting in it.

I don't feel like I have enough knowledge to give advice on mermaid belts :-( BUT... I do know that silicone does stretch, as two different girls wore this tail that were not exactly the same size. One was slightly bigger than the other.

Aw :-( Huge bummer.
Oh I know! If there was any way I could comfortably fit my feet in there I would! or, if I could try it on, just to see if it would work :(

Gah. If I could talk my husband into it. I wonder if Mernation could repaint it and put more fins on it?

I'm not sure, but you could certainly ask them. They are super nice and super quick at answering questions.

I'm afraid it'll cost close to a new tail with all modifications :/ I have understood repainting is lil expensive. But who knows, hit them with a message and let us know if all goes well :)

Be aware that adding new fins might not be possible. New silicone don't stick well with old silicone.

Hi everyone! Just thought we would chime in to answer a few questions :) I know that The Merry Mermaid and her team are sad to see this go, it's an awesome tail!
Regarding the monofin size, I'm almost positive we put in a large competitor fin, however they do tend to run small. We have had one of our girls wear a tail with a large competitor and she has a shoe size of around a 7 and it was ok. Neoprene booties may really help fill in the extra gap, plus competitors are notorious for giving blisters/rubbing feet so they might be a good idea anyway.
When it comes to a repaint/additional fins, we would be happy to do it! However Arion is correct, keep in mind that silicone really does have a "green period" where paint/silicone will bond best to itself. Of course you can still repaint it or add fins after the fact, but there is an increased risk of peeling paint and separation of fins from the body. We have done it several times successfully, but these tails require a bit more upkeep to ensure that the new silicone stays intact. Those new bonds just wont be as strong as the original ones.
Also, the silicone will definitely stretch to accommodate a few inches here and there of larger measurements, but keep in mind that if you are stretching the silicone wider, there is a possibility it won't come up as high on your waist (or would be a bit more difficult to pull up as high). I can tell you that I have squeezed my big mer booty into some really small tails for photo shoots, we are talking a size 8 person squeezing into a tail made for a size 2-4 person...lol, and it worked with a little help from the lube gods and a netting belt.... Not that I suggest squeezing into a tail that's too small on the regular :P but the silicone is quite stretchy and forgiving.
If you guys have any other questions about the tail that Merry Mermaid can't answer feel free to ask! Hope she goes to a great home!

My hips are nearly 10 inches larger than the stated measurements. Would it stretch that far?

Yeah :( 10" is probably too much of a difference. Sorry
Shoot its so pretty, and a great price, too. In the third picture where you're showing a seam and what looks to be a rip, the tail looks really pink. Is that just the lighting?
I'd like to, but I can't at that price... Unless you could take payments?

Thanks to everyone who was interested in this tail! It sold on the 12th and full payment was received this morning. We're getting ready to box it up, with super heavy hearts. We truly hate to see it go. :-(

Doesn't someone (like an admin or something) write (Sold) in the name of the thread once it has been sold? That's true tho; I've never seen a tail so beautiful being sold on mernetwork b4 :)

It says sold in the thread title?
And from my knowledge threads don't get removed just like that.
