Hi everyone!

I'm really nervous, I'm about to make my first tail. I have a Finfun monofin and want to create a fabric tail to go on top of it.
I've followed Little Orca's videos about tailmaking (of course :P) but I still have some concerns and questions.

But first, let me show you the designs :

These are the colors I intend to use on my tail, I'm going to paint the scales by hand with acrylic and a good heat set setting.

And here is where my troubles begins... This is the design for the fluke. I do not like my monofin's shape (you can still see the shape of it in the darkest zone), so I would like to add a plastic similar to Hannah Fraser's tail to add shape to the end of my tail. The problem is, where could I find and what is this plastic?

I aldo intend to sew a zipper to the end of the tail, beneath the plastic, so that I'll be able to remove the monofin. Where could I find a zipper that won't rust? Or is there an alternative?

The plastic is a ribbed plastic flooring-thingy, I'm sure you can find something like it in you home-store.
There are plastic zippers that won't rust.
