I started with this basic bra from Ross. I chose it because the cups are very shell-shaped, and the straps are convertible/removable. Here is is before I started:

Here is is after about 7 hours of work. I think I'm getting the hang of this!

My tail is a deep turquoise, and I haven't decided what kind of straps I'm going to do with this yet. Perhaps netting, perhaps just clear straps. I'm also trying to decide if I'm going to use (and sequin) the back. It's very stretchy and I'm thinking about trimming it off and using a nautical rope tie. Thoughts?

Thank you! I'm really excited how it looks! Sequining and pearls done! Now for figuring out how to secure it. Tips? Insights? 31276

Eeee! Love it! Hmm, I love netting, but I almost think it would detract from how pretty it is. Could you make straps that tie out of that pretty fabric in the picture?

Oh wait, is that your tail??? If so, yeah the same fabric that your tail is made of?

Ok I just lost my posts :(
Anyway...that looks amazing! Did you glue the sequins? I love the way they are clustered.
Is the fabric behind the top your tail? If so, could you make straps out of that same fabric? I love netting, but I feel like it would maybe detract from the sparkly of the sequins. But that is just my opinion.

Haha! Yes we're neighbors! I sent you a friend request. I am so eager to meet other mers! So yes, the fabric is my tail. I do have extra...Im not sure about the stretch of the fabric performing like I want. I was thinking about maybe structuring with braiding and tying rope like this to make a halter and ties...31277

Finishing touches now! I'll put a few more sequins spilling onto the sides and maybe a few more pearls. I just can't resist pearls... I LOVE the rope ties. Here's to hoping they work well in the water. I love the nautical yet glamorous effect. I think it will feel really free and light in the water compared to netting. :)

Looks so good! Really sturdy, too. How many hours did you put into the sequining?

The sequins alone took me about 12 hours. The second cup took about half as long as the first. I really got the hang of it after a while. :)

Edited to say that I did sew the sequins. I used fishing line. :) No glue.
