as a bald mer, i envy my sea brothers and sisters their locks... (and my land brethren too). So i've been messing around with mer hair pieces, synthetic wigs cleverly attached to rubber swim caps to improve the grip. at anyrate, my mer-drobe has two options. One whimsical and fun, the other more natural/sexy. or I could always go for the hydrodynamic smooth look. :)3127431275

thanks, i'm overwhelmed by how cool and supportive the Mer community can be. I feel like one of the gang already. :) I went for the blue in mind because it might work well for kids parties, bringing to mind the bubble guppies. Realistically, most kids who have mer parties want mer maids, so when our group does such an event, i'll be the pirate mer-wrangler.... but you never know. Also, my in-progress silicone tail will be primarily blue.

the longer one is just because i like having long sexy hair sometimes. ;)

The blue hair would look great with a blue tail. You should post pics of your work on your tail as it progresses. We all love seeing it!

I had a hard time taking a pic of the dark blue that showed the color and shape accurately, looks better in person. I'll be perfectly honest, I hate being bald... so i i like having options.

untested as yet. I think it will be good. I was supposed to rehearse for a gig with another Mer this weekend, but the pool was closed. I'll update when i know. The rubber of the swim cap grips really tightly and semi sticks to the skin (as it is designed to do) so I can't imagine any problem beyond just tangling and chlorine... which you get with real hair too! I made one for Mermaid Laura as well, her hair is very fine and between teaching swim lessons all summer, the hot Texas Sun, and Mermaiding, it takes a beating. This may be a boon to her as well.

both Laura The Mermaid and myself have now swum in our mer-wigs with great success. we had a 3 hour pool party event this weekend, my hair stayed on the whole time. :) that's 3 hours IN THE WATER.

If nothing else works, I'd try Arda Wigs. I use them all the time for cosplay and they are INSANELY high quality. The strap on the back doubles as both a wig head strap and a strap to hold it to your head. Give it a try!
