Latex Tail

Hi!

Firstly, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this...

I'm thinking of making my first tail from latex! Is that plausible? What are people's experiences? I'm thinking of ordering latex sheets and making it out of that.

I made my tail from latex, so it certainly is possible. I made mine similarly to a silicone tail, though, by creating molds and pouring the latex in.

My tail has held up fairly well over the last year since I made it, though it does require regular upkeep and repairs. (most likely due to my inexperience making it rather than the material). A cast latex tail without a neoprene backing (like mine) is pretty similar to a silicone tail. It's heavy, and takes an impressive amount of lube and 10-15 minutes to get it on. Have you swum with a fabric tail or a monofin before? It might be best to get some practice with something lighter first if you intend to go the full cast-latex route.

It would certainly be possible to make a tail from sheet latex (people make clothing out of it all the time), and I'm pretty sure there's some latex fetish sites that make tails out of sheet latex. Thank you :) I was just curious and wondering if it was actually possible, I am planning to make a fabric tail first and even before that practice the dolphin kick with or without a monofin.

If you do this with sheet latex, I'd be very interested to see the result! I don't think I've seen anyone in the mer community make a swimming tail with a monofin out of the stuff. Good luck, can't wait to see
