"It's bouncy this way!" (Monofin lending)

So my nephew and niece wanted to give my new wave monofin a shot today. Which turned out really well, they actually seem better at dolphin kick than I am! They both really seemed to enjoy swimming around had a great time...

I look down in the pool and my nephew has my wave bent in a "C" shape, standing on it and bouncing...I stop him and he says "It's bouncy this way though!"...I...my fin...it hurt me inside.

I know my wave isn't ~that expensive...but it was expensive to me and a rare find locally! The fin is alright, no harm done! I still would have cried if it broke though...

Do you have any stories of lending your fin to others?

(Side question, do foot cramps come with the territory or is my fin a bit too narrow?)

I once let a little girl try on my Finis Foil. She put one foot in and walked/dragged it poolside. I wanted to screech at her but kept it in. She did half a stroke and said, "Its too hard!" The rest of her time there, whenever she or her Mum saw me, they thanked me.

After that, I never let anyone borrow my fins. I get foot cramps when I've swam too long.

I let my bff Lisa try on my Fin Fun tail and monofin, but it was a dry shoot. I think if you can be sure to trust them not to damage your tail or monofin, it can be quite lovely to let someone else try it. She doesn't own an actual tail, only mermaid scale print legging, so seeing her all excited to try mine on only made me appreciate it all the more :)

I actually lend out my 2Tails fabric tails relatively frequently, but those monofins are tiny and indestructible and I only lend them to other quirky-yet-respectful adult friends. The only problem I've ever had is that I lent the black one that I dressed up with chiffon fins and flows to a mermaid who looked so beautiful in it that I almost just gave it to her. Now I kinda feel like it's meant to be her tail and it feels weird to wear it, which is a bummer because it was my favorite. Maybe I will give it to her if I see her again... who am I to stand in the way of true love?

For my Rapid, my boyfriend and I both use it, but I'd probably never lend it to a stranger.

I would physically throttle anyone who touched my MerNation tail though!

I've let a couple friends try my fin fun, but I don't think I'd let anyone try my dolfin. I had to alter the straps so they aren't adjustable any more. I'd also be worried about someone getting hurt with it- that thing is HEAVY!

I got to try my first Monofin at Weeki Wachee a week or two ago. A man and his wife were both snorkeling with Finis Trainers and I was admiring them with my husband. We got to talking with the man and he asked if I wanted to give it a try. I was like..."Oh heck yes!" LOL...so I put it on (it fit perfectly) and he told me to be patient with myself, it takes awhile to get used to, and don't panic if I have trouble treading water because that takes along time to learn to do correctly. " I thanked him and turned and took off...HOLY COW it was Fast, and SO much Fun! I popped up a few strokes later and tread water without any issues. LOL When I got back the man was in shock..."you are a natural! You NEED to get one of these!" LOL...I found out later her turned to my husband and said.."Wow, she won't have Any problems" LOL. I went home and bought a Mahina Merfin a day later. I got it in the mail a few days after that and omg....it's so wonderful. We also got one for my oldest and are getting one for my youngest (8 and 4). They are naturals as well! Can't wait until I can make enough to buy a mernation.
