Hi! So I'm starting to work on my first tail, and I'm planning on going with painted neoprene (like this (http://firepixiefashion.blogspot.com/2013/07/how-i-made-my-neoprene-swimming-mermaid.html)).

However, I'm a little bit worried about my scale painting skills, as they have to each be individually painted on there. Anyone have any scale painting advice or techniques to share? Also anything about mixing colors and transitioning from color to color to create a pattern on the tail.

Also Any other tips on sewing neoprene (and how to finish it-what sort of seams do I want to go with?) would be appreciated too. I have the heavy duty upholstery thread but I'm afraid I may have to mess with the tension of my machine to sew with it? I'm not very machine savy (especially when it comes to tension) so I'm a bit worried about that.

Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
