The Little Mermaid Originally a Ballet

I was watching San Francisco Ballet's version of the Little Mermaid on TV (very very odd...) and they said this and I looked it up and it's correct. The Little Mermaid was originally written by Hans Christian Anderson as a ballet.

Did you know this? It's interesting and I hope to be able to do it or see it in person one day as a ballet :)

Wow. I didn't know he wrote for live productions. I've been wanting to see that version the SFB put on. Looked very cool. How was it?

It was very interesting...had an interesting concept and good dancers (it was more contemporary than classical ballet) but it was kind of slow-moving. We weren't really into it (doing other stuff) so we didn't finish watching it.
