Hello to everybody reading this

as you can probably tell by the title I am from Britain, however I have lived in Spain in the past. My land name is Samantha and my mer name, well I haven't exactly come up with one. I cannot just chose a random name it has to have some meaning and originality to it so any ideas would be great. I have been into mermaids ever scince I first had an acosiation with them as a young child. Since then I always aspired to be a aquatic being. Growing up in Spain I could pretty much swim before I could talk but I was, and still am, lousy at surface swimming (Brest stroke e.t.c) but I would always swim under water and I would feel amazing. When I moved bac to England I stumbled upon the show h2o just add water (I was about 9) and I started to make my own tails out of anything I could get my hands on, which was usually my duvet cover lol I propped myself on the arm of the sofa with the temporary tail on and started to swim in air with the dolphin kick method. I was not a normal 9 year old a few years later we whent on holiday to Turkey, this is wear I brought a pair of flippers and the hole thing started from there for real. When I got back from holiday I stole some of my Dady strong boat glue and stuck them together. I swam with them for a lot of years after that. at 13/14 I had the opportunity to indepth study how the silicon mermaid tails are made, I studyed that for a good year. I saved and slowly bilt up my money and brough all the supply's needed to make my very own hand made silicone mermaid tail. I can truly say no matter how much you think you know about making the tails, you will learn so much more from making one, this tail in the pictures is my first tail that I made by my self with the slight helping hand of my wonderful farther. It isn't the best tail however it works and does the job. I am currently doing a 2nd one which I can tell already that it is going to be far superior to the first. P.S ignore any spelling mistakes please I am a high functioning server dyslexic.

Welcome to the forum! :) I guess we have one or two things in common. I've also got ties to the UK: I was born there although I'm not British by nationality. And then there's the distinct possiblity that I'm dyslexic as well given that my reading abilities have always been rather wonky.

But either way, that's a truly lovely tail you have there.

Thank you for the welcome, I will probably remain in the UK untill my education is compleat and then I do not know where I will go. Being dislexic dose have its ups because we think differently because our brains work diffrent by the "wiring" in them which if you have a creative personality like I do it will do wonders. Thank you for the complement , it is not the best I think I can achieve however it wasnt bad for my first ever tail that I have made, I am doing the second one a lot diffrent.

That's the first tail you made? It's GORGEOUS! You're obviously very talented. Can't wait to see your second one!
