This may sound odd, but as much as I enjoy the mer - lifestyle. I can't see myself having a tail. Often I picture myself walking on the sea floor. And I like merfolk. Am I the only one here like this?

While the majority of users here probaly prefers a tail, there are plenty of seafolk in reality and mythology that do not have a tail.
Pearl divers and Ama are often likened to mermaids, so are swimmers, especially in snychronized swimming, and freedivers.

Many cultures know tail-less seafolk.
So no, you are not alone.

Perhaps you could walk on the sea floor in these Speedo Nemesis fins. I'd love to see a pair turned into proper triton's feet!

I think you could a lot with a mersona that doesn't have a tail. Lots of aquatic creatures don't have tails. You do you!

Ok, thanks . I'll definitely have to see what I can do with this. Got a few ideas I've sketched out on paper, just never explored doing anything with it before .

I'm a tail-less mer... and I'm not the least bit ashamed of it. To me a merperson (or mer) is simply an aquatic or ampibious humanoid. The tail is optional. Ultimately whether you're a mer or not depends on what's in your heart, not on who has the coolest costume.
