Where mermaids came from or live

I'm writing a story based off things I've notice from mermaids . The show h2o inspired me. I was thinking about how the moonpool was make from rock foreign to earth. My story relates mermaid first coming from a race of aliens that why they are afflicted by the moon because it is similar to the moons around there planet of origin. There the moons are constantly out so there power is constantly balanced but on earth there is only one moon so it why they can have issues controlling their powers.

Any one else have hunches or stories.

Alien cruise, humans modified for sea. Cruise abandons people for whatever reason. Long lived aliens still waiting for rescue while staying out of the way of locals (us).

Aw awesome Ihave art work in my mind for my comic itwould explain mermaid deep connection with animals being they are to in a way an animal a disconnect from human evolutionary line.
