Merdoll

Hello, everyone! I'm Doll, and I've peeked at MerNetwork many a-time, but I'm finally swimming out of my cave to join and say hi! Like countless others, my interest in mermaids was first sparked as a child when I saw movies like The Little Mermaid and Splash. Ariel is still my favourite Disney character (I may or may not have cried the last time I saw her at Disneyland...). However, it wasn't until a few years ago that I realized I could actually be a mermaid too!
Most of my mermaiding was done when I lived in Oceanside. My first tail was one I made myself (though it later got a dorsal fin and a new paint job courtesy of another mermaid in my pod). My second tail was a gift from that same friend. I still have them both, but I haven't used either since moving back up to San Jose, and it's really been getting me down. After browsing through mermaid gifs on Tumblr on night, I decided enough was enough and it was time to work on getting back out there! I'm tired of being a spectator, especially when I adore mermaids and the sea with my whole heart.
Even on land, I'm a performer through-and-through. I'm currently pursuing a career in musical theatre, but I've also dabbled in piano, belly dance, burlesque, amateur modeling, and close-up magic. I want to return to belly dance and burlesque some time, I adore those both. I'm also teaching myself violin (my favourite instrument in the world, but one I cannot afford lessons for) and have plans to someday learn aerial silks, fire work, fabric spinning, contact juggling... honestly, anything performance-based! I also sew and style wigs, skills I picked up in my 8 years in the cosplay world. Though cosplay as a whole has taken a backseat to other priorities these days, I still make costumes whenever I can find an excuse and the funds ;)
I'm so excited to be diving back into the world of mermaids, and I hope to actually make some friends in the community soon, especially local ones!
