What To Use For Foot Pockets?

What is best to use for foot pockets(is that the right word?) on a lexan monofin? I was thinking of using a pair of PVC beach shoes over the finis zoomers because they have a little tab on the back of the heel which could help put them on.

If I choose to make one I have an old pair of flippers that I know fit me perfectly that I plan to one day slice down to make my foot pockets.

Before putting any beach shoes in, first double check it.
Does it float? (if yes, no go.)
Does it contain any Fabric elements that will rot if not completely dried between use?
Will it easily drain water out of he toes or will the toe section puddle?
Can I tighten it or will my heels slip out during kicks?

I tried kiefer training fins on a polycarbonate monofin, and finis zoomers on another polycarbonate monofin. Both worked.

In both cases I attached the fins to the polycarbonate with bolts. I tried gluing with E6000 and poly zap. Both glued, but not strongly enough for my preference. I also bought some kiefer silicone fins to see if I could get dragon skin to bond to it, but it didn't work. I haven't had much success with adhesives.
