Incredible Supermoon Event on Sunday

So tomorrow (Sun., Sept. 27) is a supermoon. There's also going to be an eclipse of this supermoon!

In Eastern North America it happens at a great time, between 10 pm to 12 midnight, depending how far west you are. All of South America will have a great view, and the moon will be very high in the sky in Eastern North America and the Western part of South America, and will be very easy to watch.

The eclipse will be complete in Western Europe & West Africa, but will occur in the wee hours of the morning of Monday, Setp. 28, depending what time zone you're in.

The eclipse will be partial if you're in Eastern Europe or on the West coast of North America, or Hawaii or Alaska.

Unfortunately the eclipse won't be visible to mers in Australia, NZ, China, Japan, or the Phippines- but you'll still have a spectacular supermoon.

I'm super bummed because the total eclipse for my time zone is 7-8:30 and moonrise isn't even till 7 (same time as sunset actually cause of the whole moon and sun being in the same path thing). The moon will most likely be too low on the horizon to see the eclipse at all :(
Well maybe I'll catch the next one 18 years from now :cry:

Hey SeaGlass, the weather report for Toronto is calling for variable cloudiness tonight with POP of 30%, which usually menas just a few clouds scudding across the sky with lots of clear breaks.

I have a first row seat- could watch it the entire time from my bed :cool:
but ofc I didn't sleep.
I totally held a ceremony instead :p

Partly cloudy here still staying in the Hotel I have been at all weekend. Was able to get a glimpse from the hotel window. Called down to the desk clerk as during the wine and cheese happy hour after 7PM he kept looking for the moon rise. Do not know if he saw any of it before the clouds returned or not. Just looked out the window and it was cloudy again
One of the shops on the main street of this, California gold rush town, in the foothills has the cutest mermaid bottle topper in blue glass. If they are open in the morning and still have it before I leave, I may get it. They also have a mermaid wall hanger that looked interesting. There was a big fire here a few weeks back called the Butte fire. The first night I was here the building in the next block burned to the ground. Unrelated to the big fire they just had. I think the merchants were really glad to have our group here that plays little pipe organs on carts that are often called Monkey organs, Busker organs or crank organs. Helps cheer up a town that lives for the weekend tourist. I also noticed a mermaid statue outside the Hotel's restaurant.
One of my friends and fellow organ grinder is a well known special effects artist. Owns one of the largest sfx companies in the state. I got to have dinner with him last night. Asked if he had a good source of silicone. Said he got it from the manufacture on account, I forget how many tons he said they go through a year. Well at least I had the courage to ask...

Just checked through the window. Moon behind the clouds, with perhaps a little of the eclipse left. Should be over soon.

I watched the whole thing, didn't have to move from my sleeping room at all, clear sky :cheerleader:
feel sorry for those who couldn't see it.

Reminds me of that spectacular solar eclipse in 1999, when thousands of people had come to southern Germany to see it, and the whole sky was overcast, but where I live it was clear lol.

Admittely, a solar eclipse is far more impressive. I'll never forget it.
