Mermaid Lockets With Real Pearls on etsy!

I made some mermaid shell lockets! They're made with real shells, hinged with silicone caulking so they open and close like real clams. Each one comes with an Akoya pearl inside. The necklace is made of twisted hemp rope for an authentic mermaid look. It would be a great accessory or gift!

What keeps the shell closed? I can see the pearl falling out being a problem.

The silicone naturally keeps it in a closed position, when you open it the silicone stretches, and all you guys who work with silicone know that silicone doesn't like to stay stretched! :) The way the hemp rope is tied around the top of the shell also provides extra security. I've been wearing mine for a couple days with 12 pearls inside (I got a little excited when my oysters came!) Without any problem

The silicone caulking I use is a lot stronger and less stretchable than say, dragon skin 10 is. Also it doesn't pull away from the shell at all.

Kalani, I know actual oyster shells are much too fragile, I'll see if I can find other types that will work well! :)
