Having to use the rest room while performing?

Just curious, what does everyone do when they're in the middle of a performance and they have to use the restroom?

Go to the bathroom before you get in your tail and you should be fine, honestly. If you're going to be in it for hours, try not to drink too much.

Along with not drinking, I've heard of some mers wearing thick pads for dry events. That way, it will catch anything? Eh, this is an awkward subject but I guess it's something that professionals endure :P
Theres a couple of full-time mers on here, I'm sure they have tips :)

Keeping hydrated is very important.
The key is to drink the water you need, but not so much that you need to pee.

During a paid gig (or even volunteer) you cannot shut everything down to send kids away or be carried away to relieve yourself and then come back.
It is a laborious process that would take at least 15 minutes even if one is skilled at getting in and out of their tail quickly.

It all comes down to proper previous planning :)

I have a bladder illness where I pee way more than usual and have bladder pain. I find you actually will pee more when you start to dehydrate. So I do drink, but stop two hours before. I won't pee in a pool, but I'll totes pee in the ocean or a lake lol

I've had close calls where at the end of a gig I needed to be put in the bathroom cuz I had to pee so bad. But if I can manage with my illness I think a healthy person can!
