So I am a marine biologist, I have worked for the Waikiki Aquarium, NOAA, Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology, the Joint Institute of Marine and Atmospheric Research, and top fisheries labs. I hear lots of mermaids say "I want to do ocean conservation," and similar statements when they have no idea what that actually entails or how they can help actively do that with their mermaid or merman status. So let's make a plan for better mermaid parties, talks, and conservation classes that are focused on one aspect of marine life or ocean conservation and communicates it effectively. No more Miss America style "All I want is World Peace," fluff answers let's get results!

Here's the first challenge I have and I want help solving this specific problem:

I want to teach kids ages 5-7 about plastic based pollution, the causes, the effects, and what they can do to help reduce it. How am I going to do that in a tin minute lesson while in tail?

I actually bring a Brita water bottle filter everywhere I go.
maybe show a chart of how much plastic water bottles the average person throws away a week or a whole year compared to how many filters are used and thrown away?
love your idea.

Hah, I have a fluffy sash and crown response for you :P

Demonstrations are good. I have never done one in tail but I did a class visit where I had kids pick up as many tiny buttons as they could with restrictions on their hands (oven mitts, plastic bags, tied up with rope - not fishing line or rubber bands in case it hurts them, etc) and a time limit (ex: 15 seconds). Make a game out of it and even make a comparison table on a whiteboard for a leaderboard. You can also split them into groups (some of the classes I visited were already in table groups) and do the same activity. Obviously you can tie that into plastic pollution and how hard it is for animals to get food with that kind of restriction.

Also I'm guessing that having giant print out posters of your presentation makes it easier to give in a tail. :)

What a great thread, Coradion!

My husband and I do regular library storytime programs in our area as a mermaid/faerie and pirate. At each one, we focus on a particular animal and its habitat. Through reading a book, and interacting with props and puppets and stuffed animals, we get kids to make an emotional connection to that animal. This could easily be done for a theme such as plastic pollution, and I thank you for the idea! I've been wanting to do a turtle-themed program with my giant stuffed sea turtle. I now envision that turtle with one of those hateful pop can 6-pack rings stuck around its neck. I'll enlist one of the kids' help to cut that off of him, then show them how to completely chop up the plastic before throwing it out. From there we can talk about all of the problems that plastic poses to our oceans. I always write a song for each of my programs. Gonna get something percolating to go along with this theme!

You'll probably have to write a lot of essays and other written assignments when you're already a college student. I am aware that learning is challenging and not necessarily essential for one's future. This is necessary to receive a decent grade. So, I advise you to get in touch with essayshark.com (https://essayshark.com/) . They will assist you with this assignment and take all essential steps to ensure that your essay is well-organized and attractive.

Thank you for the advice. Indeed, in the process of getting an education, writing essays is often necessary, and I was lucky to find the best dissertation writing service in us - payforessay (https://us.payforessay.net/dissertation-writing-services) With them, I am confident in achieving good results and do not worry about grammatical errors.

love your idea.

I think that's a great idea! Not only is it more sustainable, but it's also more cost-effective and convenient as well. It's always great to find a way to reduce waste and save money in the process. Have you thought about creating a chart showing the amount of plastic water bottles the average person throws away in a week compared to the number of filters used and thrown away? That could be a really interesting way to demonstrate the impact of this change.

I'm thinking about sending my child to some good camp. Do you have any advice?

Hello! I agree, summer camp is an excellent solution for a child to relax so that he or she can experience new emotions. impressions and meet new people. I advise you to study the information here (https://azbigmedia.com/lifestyle/how-to-apply-in-summer-camps-in-austria/) on how to enroll in a summer camp in Austria. This is a great place for your child to spend the whole summer having fun and profitably.
