I made a thread about Furrymers so I figured I'd make one for one of my other major hobbies - the SCA! I know there is at least one other mer who goes to Pennsic because she commented on my intro thread but is there anyone else? I am Atendveld, currently up in Ered Sul. I've been to Estrella once but hope to go to more events and wars once I move back down to the Twin Moons area after my partner graduates. Then once we have paid back some loans and have work experience we plan to move out to Caid for my work :)

I do archery, all the crafts, drumming, rapier and some other things here and there. I really want to get into hardsuit and equine stuff but I has no monies. Anyone else in the Society? Anyone else in Atenveld!?

I am not involved in SCA right now, super busy and no money for awesome garb, but I very much want to be. Wouldn't be your kingdom though and I doubt I'd ever be able to experience Pennsic. Still, I am very much fascinated by the concept of SCA.

Your profile there says Utah which would be the lovely Kingdom of Artemisa. I don't personally know anyone from there and while Pennsic may be too far away, Estrella is only one Kingdom over! And we get a lot of travelers because the weather is (usually) super nice.

A lot of Baronies and Shires and whatnots have loner garb if you can't afford to make or purchase your own or if you haven't figured out a persona yet. I can't help with the busy part, but you can check out your local group and see if they have garb available for new members for the next event :)

I started in the College of St Brendan in the Barony of Allyshia, I have been blinded by the Great White Wall and seen Whump in action (it's called Whump 'cause that's the sound it makes when it hits you). I don't know if da Vikings are still around but I absolutely LOVED them whenever I went to Warlord.
At the moment I'm in the Principality of The Mists but haven't had much time to join in, my boys are still too young for fighter practice and have no patience for court

Our family aren't members but we do attend the two big Aethylmaerc events in May and July (including Pennsic). The local SCAdians are kind enough to let us shoot with them (archery) on weekends now and then. :). We'll probably get more involved if our daughter shows more of an interest!

Thanks! I did some digging and it looks like I'll be in the Province of Arrows Flight, which is a super cool name. If next term of uni is a little less insane I totally have to email the senchenal(?) and get into this!

I'm in the Barony of Thor's Mountain of Ameris. Haven't had the time to 'formally' sign up/join SCA proper (mostly due to running a LARP and propmaking), but I still go to and participate in events, and will be formally joining once we have a little extra I can put back that isn't going into the chapter or bills.

The awesome thing about the SCA is that it can be free! Yes you can at do a membership and get some perks from that but you can attend local gatherings, participate in practice an seminars and not have to pay a cent!

I wanted to join because I hate real life... No seriously though, I love dressing up and I attended an event when I was younger to watch my moms friends kids while she danced. But I love learning new things and I love history and those two things just go fin in fin with the SCA. I've learned, kumihimo, embroidery, inkle weaving, heraldry and so much more since joining!

It's true, the SCA is a do-it-yourselfer's DREAM!

I'm in the SCA as Lady Katherine Fletcher. I used to do archery. Now I am into bellydancing and wear traditional Bedouin or Turkish garb. I play dumbek, zills, and tambourine and camp with a bunch of gypsies at the Great Northeastern War in Hebron Maine every July. I used to go to an event every month, but funds are a bit tight for that. You all know how that is. I do have more costumes in my closest than work clothes, and boxes of them in my basement...not to mention stacks of fabric waiting to be made into something.

Being a mermaid is a new thing that I am enjoying with my fiancé. My sewing time is now spent on making tails for us. I do plan to bring him to GNEW this July, so I need to make him some garb for that.

I love garb and have a lot of friends in it so I occasionally go but I'm not really "in" it. I made a character for a name and fun but...eh

Kingdom of Drachenwald here. I really would like to do more but I'm far from most of the people and I would like to drive to be going to more events.

I love Italian renaissance fashion as well as Elizabethan and Tudor. I will most likely make a lot of clothing from different eras.
