Simple merman top for halloween.

I am looking for any simple any ideas for what to wear as a top with my blue tail if I am at a church helping with Halloween celebrations? I would be ok without a shirt or anything but I think people would prefer if I was covered. It would need to be something fairly simple as I am not extremely crafty. One thing I have been thinking is a nude colored shirt, but I think just that would look funny.

I think a nude shirt could look good, especially if you added armbands and other accessories. What about a vest or a vest and pirate shirt? Also some sort of sailor type top could work as well. A common sailor look is a blue and white horizontal striped shirt and a red neckerchief.

Something piratey, or renaissance-like? I think it would look best if it were something that you were truly meant to wear, instead of trying to fake a bare chest with a nude top. I second Rosefish's idea about the sailor top. I think that would work very well!

I made myself a pirate style top for a dry event from a large t shirt ($3 at wally world). buy big (2 sizes bigger than you need) t shirt, cut off sleeves and collar and cut down the front to make a big vest. the front flaps overlap, then wrap a sash or belt around to hold it in place. looks pirate-y if you do it in black and red.

Right now a few of my local craft stores have a bunch of fake plants on sale (probably because they are now 'out of season' do to it being Fall) you also might be able to use a coupon to get an even better deal!
